Magical Girls - Grey and Black - Sign-up and OOC thread

Hello all

Long time absentee here looking to get back into RPing and writing in general.

Anyway, I had a little idea in mind so I thought I would put it forward and see who, if anyone, is interested.

Setting:
England, 2013.
The end of the world came and went and no-body could tell the difference. Some took the increase in accidents, natural disasters and suicides to be a warning of end-times but they were wrong. The forces behind such things have always been here, but now they have started to not bother with being as subtle as they were before.
However, mankind is not without defence. Since the dawn of man, there have been those who fought demons with elemental fury and magical might; Magi. Secretive to the extreme, the Magi have fought an invisible war with their unknown enemy for generations, but it seems their strength is failing.

Whether set upon by monsters beyond your comprehension, or saved from yourself and the harsh world around you, you have been approached by a messenger bearing an offer: "Will you take up the fight for the sake of a wish?"


So yeah. Many of you can probably see the inspiration, and as such can tell roughly where this is going. If you want to make characters, go ahead using the form below. I'm not sure yet when this will start, but I hope to force myself to get it going soonish.

Is it possible I could use one of my own Magical Girl Characters that I created that I have in my character thread or do I have to have you transform a new character of mine into a magical girl? Just curious.

I mean, I never said there was only one 'generation' of magical girls active at this time.

Wish (at least at the start): To be Magical like his mother.
Appearance: Before: Male, Brown short hair, 6'2", 215 lbs Usually wears a T-shirt and Jeans the T-shirts are usually sports related.

Personality:
A bit of backstory: Erik is a very friendly and easygoing person. Does not get mad easily, but when he does Enemies better watch out because he also happens to be a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Karate. He is upset at the fact that his only remaining parent was killed and wants some closure to make sure his/her mother didn't die in vain.

Also, given the discussion I had with Ash, I'll put up a few base rules.

Magic is given by the messenger. It is the deals they make that grant the powers. However, this is a life-long deal, for better or for worse.
With that in mind, all magical characters will make a deal with the messenger as there are no other sources of magic. Also, you cannot just give it up. Well, you could, but the messenger makes it very clear there would be consequences for breaking the pact, although that might just mean you forfeit your wish.

Gender (before deal): Male

Motivation (why you took the deal): Fear of death

Wish (at least at the start): Immortality.

Appearance: 5'11", average weight, short, unkempt black hair. Usually wears a t-shirt, jeans, and a beaten up leather jacket.

Affinity (what form your magic takes, i.e. fire, swords, shoop da woop, etc): A guitar that, depending on how it's played, yields different kinds of magical attacks. IE: playing a single note or chord could fire a shockwave at the foe, etc.

Personality: Jimmy acts as though his life is harder than it really is. He's quick to point out anything he has an issue with, and tries to make others see those problems as well. He tends to be aggressive toward most people, even his friends, but it's mainly a habit he formed from years of acting that way.

A bit of backstory: Jimmy hasn't had a terrible life. All in all, it's been fairly average. He is one of three children (one older brother, 21, and a younger sister, 17), of a middle class family. His parents have alright jobs, and haven't had to struggle too much. That does not mean, however, that it lives up to what he thinks a good life should be. Around the age of thirteen, he began acting up. Maybe it was because his parents weren't strict enough with him, maybe because something happened to him that he never told anyone about, or maybe for no reason at all. He hung onto his more aggressive attitude, and fell into a group of friends that had similar views to himself.

Character looks good, just the kind of thing I was looking for.
If you want to bounce affinity ideas off me, feel free. Music based magic could be interesting (....and my mind immediately went to a guitar that does such awesome solos that it makes monster brains asplode......but thats just my mind being as insane as always)

Actually, that's along the lines of what I was thinking. Some sort of weaponized instrument, at least.

Anyway, once Ookalf, Kris and Miku have their characters out, I'll see about starting the RP. It should be fairly open to anyone new joining for quite a while though so feel free to make a character if you want.

Also, one other thing. As Shadow and Ash will be able to confirm, I tend to mix things up with the format from time to time, so if you object to being asked to do the odd solo or experimental section, please PM me so I can try to play to everyone's strengths.
