Merah glances around at the others, she's gone quiet as she does from time to time. Being introspective at moments might be a weakness, but it does have it's strengths often enough. Right? She studies Raleigh for a few moments. Then frowns at the man.
She straightens her stuff out, and clears her throat with an 'ahem'. The young teenager begins, "I'm sorry. ...but... are you serious? Really. I'm asking you. ...are you serious?" Without waiting for an answer she goes right back into it, "...you walk in here, asking for a moment of our time. We granted that. You made a proposal and asked us to deliberate it. We granted that. Now we've been at it for... ...a half an hour at most -- and yet you demand that we come to a decision this very instant?" Her brow furrows a bit, "It's just not that though. It's just not a demand for us to decide. It's more than that. Far more." She stops for a moment, and tilts her head forward. Taking a deep breath...
Merah starts speaking once more! She adds to her previous thought, "You have not just once, but twice... in the last few moments of conversation... have been polite enough to remind us four on how easy it would be for you to do away with us. Or at least our authority. To some those would sound like idle threats, or at least to some that would motivate them to thank you for letting us play 'self-government'." Her muscles tense up now, "And there is yet more. ...apparently whatever decision we decide on you won't accept. Even if we pass a law... you don't care. ...and. And you even out right insult the members of this council. During deliberations at that."
Finally Merah slumps, "...what I can't figure out. ...is why? How? You're an entity that's lifespan is more easily measured in geographical epochs than anything else. ...yet." She graghs, "...who do you think you are!? You come in here. And act like... like..." She trails off, then starts up again "...there are three possibilities. One. You consider yourself a citizen, so thus any proposal you have goes through the proper channels. ...that can't be the case since you insult us. Two. You consider yourself equal to us... but again. You make demands of us. Three. You consider us irrelevant, or at the very worst, a farce. Somehow you see yourself as beyond us, above us, your influence extends beyond that of the people and sovereigns of this city. The ancient Greeks hard a term for a citizen who controlled the government through unconventional routes, it was 'tyrant'. ...if it's the third case. Your motivation and loyalties are called into question." Finally the girl sighs, "...but none of this is here or now... just... I will vote for the Guilds... just..." She falls silent, looking down at the surface of the table.
