Operation: Chaos

Postby Azer Copy » Sat Jan 15, 2011 11:30 am

All around Muffinville, the long absent tramp of combat armored boots rings through the alleys. The flash of portals opening and troops deploying can be seen by the observant... So far they haven't attacked anyone. They set up around various points of the city... occupying abandoned buildings, subway systems, and generally staying out of sight... waiting for something.

Meanwhile Black Isles Tech Depot 09, out in a large prairie, reopens. Smoke from its smokestacks pouring out once again as men and supplies are poured back into it. The large greenhouse behind it soon has patrolling guards.

(( So nobody's interested in posting yet? Hmm... ))

The arrival of the Black Isles troops doesn't go completely unnoticed. Several of the CTC's ubiquitous drones notice their presence, and a few pause to scan the troopers.

The facility out in the plains is left undeterred for now... although several satellites and high-altitude drones make passing scans of it as well.

When the troopers spot the drones, one moves to lock on with a surface to air missile launcher before a order from the squad leader has him put it down. The scans reveal they are strapped with a full compliment of color shielding technology and projectile, explosive, laser, and color weaponry. There arent many of them... but they are armed to the teeth.

So far they secure their positions... waiting.

At the facility, scans would reveal many wavelengths of color coming from the greenhouse. But primarily... the smoke from the smokestack is putting out a large amount of Yellow residue. There is a change, as a attached garage opens its doors and several unmarked vans roll out from it. Scans would reveal heavy scrambling and shielding in place to screen their contense.
Over the centuries, mankind has tried many ways of combating the forces of evil...prayer, fasting, good works and so on. Up until Doom, no one seemed to have thought about the double-barrel shotgun. Eat leaden death, demon...

The CTC drones appear to be silvery spheroids that float in the air (presumably by some sort of antigravity?), perhaps a bit over a foot across. A few of them loiter around concentrations of the Black Isles troopers, apparently watching them.

So far, no move is made against the facility, although the path of the vans is monitored...

The vans seem to be heading to where the troopers are stationed! The nearest arrives, the door rolling open. A very large, complicated looking canister is rolled out... hastily hauled into the abandoned building the Isles operatives are stationed in. The van turns around and heads back to the Depot!

As the unknown troops begin their movements, a few dark garbed individuals can be found lurking in the shadows of the abandoned warehouses (not in the subways or those other locations, those areas seem to go unnoticed~). Much like the soldiers, the individuals don't seem to be engaging the soldiers, but seem to only be observing, waiting to see what the soldiers do next.

For now, they stand back, waiting.

(Before it's asked, there's four of them total, all on their lonesome, each at a different warehouse watching the soldiers~)

In one of the warehouses, the infared scanning of one of the power armored scout's visor picks up one of the dark garbed individuals! He looks back at the others, and by the subtle body movements in their armor, they seem to be talking on a linked radio channel. Finally one of them nods and walks over... approaching the figure!

At another warehouse, the van arrives. The soldiers soon become busy unloading the canister and setting it into position.

The deployment of the canisters is met with some dismay by the CTC watchers, as it seems likely that the Black Isles forces are now up to some kind of plan -- presumably one involving color-based chemicals over portions of the populace, given their choice of locations. Strategy AIs start poring over the location data, trying to reverse engineer the rationale behind the deployments based on environmental indicators, while emergency response crews start mobilizing.

Apparently noticing that the soldiers have spotted the individual, they quickly retreat- by means of leaping onto the roof with casual easy, and scampering from warehouse roof to warehouse roof. Depending on how old the warehouses are, the individual is making quite a racket- but that may also mean the roofs won't support the weight of the armored soldiers should they follow via roof?

Some distance away, another garbed individual watches the fleeing one, frowning inwardly.

"Stupid newbie, had to get caught, didn't he?"

With a shake of their head, this one remains hidden on the top of a larger building seeing how the soldiers react to the fleeing operative.

The pattern seems quite telling... Though out of the way... one location is near a watermain... another at a subway intersection... a third just off a busy mainstreet... they look ideal contamination zones...

The delivery crews continue their work... around a third of the locations are primed.

Also at Depot 07, there is increased activity... soldiers loading up into Vertibirds which are prepping for take off. Apparently things are scaling up.

The soldier looks back to his CO, speaking on a open frequency. "He's scarpered... pursue?" The CO shakes his head. "We have orders to secure this location. He looks to another man. "Deploy a drone." He nods, pressing a series of buttons on a remote, as a previously stationary piece of equipment suddenly hovers up off of the table it was placed on... and shoots off after the fleeing man.

As the potential threat is identified, the CTC forces continue to move. Light armored vehicles and transport trucks start deploying to try and position themselves near the danger zones, although they're likely not able to quarantine them yet.

Some of the drones monitoring the situation move in closer, trying to scan the containers and determine their contents.

The fleeing man continues to leap from rooftop to rooftop, not aware that he's being followed yet. But he continues his flight, probably expecting gunfire to break out any time. Meanwhile, in the distance, the agent hidden in the taller building smiles slightly, spotting the drone following the panicking operative.

"Well, that serves him right- hopefully he won't lead it to anyone else..."

The agent turns her attention back to the soldiers at the warehouses, setting a scoped rifle on the ground next to her. She begins affixing a suppressor to the barrel before setting it to the side and pulling out a pair of goggles to get a zoomed in look at what those soldiers were doing.

"Hopefully I won't need to use my friend the Interceptor, but let's see what these guys are doing..."

The scans reveal that the canisters have high traces of Yellow emanating from them... but there are traces of yellow on the vans... and the soldiers... so this could be a coincidence... The Vertibirds take off! And start moving to hover over some of the drop zones... one of them begins shadowing a CTC group...

The drone zooms after him! Once in decent enough range, his expectation of gunfire proves to be a good assumption... as the small laser cannon on the drone begins firing! *ZAP!* *ZAP!* *ZAP!* If hit, it would feel remarkably like a combination of a tranquilizer dart and tazer.

Meanwhile the rest of the solders post back up in their positions. Some of them recieving their shipments... which are quickly taken out of sight.

About half of the total locations are in position.

The darkly dressed man continues his flight, jumping farther and farther to inhuman distances in order to avoid being shot at in that case! He does seem to be rather skillful, but as he begins to pay more attention to the drone rather than his footing, and eventually is tripped!

"Crap!"

He then receives numerous jolting shocks from the drone and collapses in a heap. That stinks.

Elsewhere, other dark garbed individuals seem to take notice of their fallen comrade and leave their positions observing the troop movements to close in on him- but watch to see what the drone does next.

Elsewhere, the agent observing the warehouses continues to watch as the soldiers move the shipments... but seeing the break in position, she considers a moment before deciding to take action.

"Time for me to make my grand entrance then."

She rises, and pulling something onto already masked head, she tests something on her belt. Taking a step onto the ledge on the roof, she leaps off flickering and fading away from visibility. If someone were to be flowing her with thermal imaging, they would notice a body-sized heat signature landing on the ground nearby before heading towards one of the areas lacking a manned position for now. Skillfully, carefully she sneaks towards the warehouse, minimizing the sound of her movements to avoid detection...

As the information trickles down through the CTC command, a grim atmosphere spreads. Most of those involved still remember the last time the CTC had to get involved with a zombie outbreak -- certainly, it did some damage to their PR image when they had to start using orbital strikes on Muffinville. Admittedly, though, Yellow isn't quite as bad as a true zombie infestation... although there's no telling if Black Isles had modified their agent at all.

The CTC forces start to move to their next stage, with soldiers and scientists in NBC armor moving to be quarantine operations. Civilians in areas near the staging areas are contacted and encouraged to leave, while they try to shut down any subways travelling to the underground station the Black Isles troopers seem to be threatening.

The vertibirds are noted, although no action is taken against them yet. Although a few armored vehicles do swivel their designator turrets to light up the shadowing aircraft as a warning.
