I'd rather get the information I need as close to first-hand as possible. Relying on opinions or advertisements leaves a pit in my stomach.

I generally get information by word of mouth or by digging for information on my own. As an aside, on the internet, I almost exclusively 'find' things by being directed to them by other people. This site is among such word of mouth or whatever.

I like people telling me about it, and discussing what we both think of it based on information given. Assassin's Creed 2 is a prime example.
