Fable: The Ties that Bind (RP Thread)

"Just keep him safe," Cletus growls. He uses the last bit of his will for another Double Strike and starts hacking at what hopefully is still the balverine's back.

[Haylie]

The large dog-thing is struck squarely in the back, dropping his breakfast and flumping facedown in the packed-dirt path, letting off a high-pitched whimper. It gets right back up, however, and turns it's sights to Cletus, giving him an angry bark.
It just stares at him, as if sizing him up for a second helping.

[Kris_Roth]

Aloena begins to heal up Cletus as he is fighting the Balverine. "He doesn't look happy...maybe if I use my smite attack on it.." She channels her smite energy into her mace and swings it hard at the Balverine's head. "Hi-Ya!"

As soon as her hit makes contact, Cletus steps between her and the monster and swings his axe with all his might.

The beast is once more knocked onto the ground, blood seeping from the resulting gashes. It takes it's time getting up, but when it does, it forgets about finding a weakness and just charges straight at Cletus, barking like crazy.

Aloena nods..."Finish it off, before it hurts someone, quickly!" She suggests to Cletus..."That Trader might give us something for showing him the body of this creature..." She hopes it is a new mace or a new set of Priest clothes, or something else.

Cletus brings his axe up and roars back at the creature, aiming his axe at it's head.

[Haylie]

In a feat of it's natural canine speed, the Balverine bites down on Cletus's axe and tries to rip it from his grasp.

Aloena attempts another Mace smash on the Balverine's head, powered by her smiting ability, to help loosen the creature's grip on Cletus's weapon. "Keep him from being disarmed! I cannot stand to see another person become like this creature!"
Somehow, this brought back memories of her youth...before her parents died, before she was rescued by Priestess Vera, and before she came to the Heroes Guild and met the others.

[Shadowmaster]

Lyon runs up behind the creature and stabs at it with his steel sword. Balverines...annoying creatures.

Cletus lets the monster take the axe, not wanting his hands that close to it's mouth. Instead he reaches for his belt and pulls out his pistol and tries to shoot it in the neck.

[Haylie]

It's difficult to tell what finally did the creature in. All were effective, beyond doubt, but any one of the three could claim this kill.

The remaining Traders approach them holding various valuable goods and almost shoving them in the trio's faces in thanks.

"Thank ye, brave Heroes!"

"We can never fully repay you!"

"But we'll do our best!"

A certain rustling around tree branch level alerts them to the presence of a certain assassin with black armor and long hair. As usual, she looks incredibly bored.

"You three. Mum an' Dad want you back at the Guild pronto."

[muffinstud]

Cletus bows to the Traders. "All we ask is that you tell your friends that Cletus the Hero saved you." He pulls his axe out of the corpse's jaw and wipes it clean on the grass. He puts it back in place on his back, holsters his pistol in his belt and just stands there, trying to look as impressive as possible. If he hears Katt, he completely ignores her.

[Kris_Roth]

Aloena nods..."I am Aloena, a priest. You are now safe.." She turns to her companions..."Should we accept these gifts from the traders or go talk with the Guildmasters? I think we are needed back in the Guild."

"I think we could manage both." Cletus grins and heartily accepts the gifts from the traders, then splits them as equally as he can between them. "Off to the guild with us! Heros supreme!" Cletus starts tromping back.
