Spiffylicious! PAL-V

Since Henry Ford built the Model T Ford, people have been dreaming of a vehicle that could drive AND fly. It took almost 90 years before this dream could be realized. Now it will: PAL-V Europe BV is building everybody’s dream in mobility: a full-fledged flying and full-fledged driving vehicle. Your first questions will probably be: How does it work and why is this suddenly possible now?

4.Governmental bodies in many countries were not in favor of personal flying.

I knew it! The man was trying to keep us out of the air. But, no, seriously, this is totally awesome. The flying car is about eight years late in being developed considering that old depictions of the future generally showed them being used by at least 2000. Then again, according to fiction, the Jetsons and Transformers should have happened by now, but that's no concern. I didn't expect them to be helicopter-cars either. Still, it's pretty cool.
The awakening of the mind gives way to a world of possibilities.

I just hope they aren't as hard to pilot as real helicopters. It's already going to be hard enough to get a license for one of these things just because of how dangerous a vehicle in the air is with regard to traffic control. And of course a crash could damage pretty much anything, so I'm not at all surprised that the government is opposed to it. It is going to be a difficult task for them to regulate air traffic with these...

This won't "take off" (oh ho ho, do you see what I did there?) because by the time it's actually publicly available -- if it ever is -- fuel will be at about eight bucks a gallon.

It is pretty neat, though... I'm interested in seeing how this project turns out.

Honestly, all I see are stupid Americans expanding their destructive territories beyond the asphalt and into buildings and stuff. If the day comes when such travel is less than a special privilege I'll be looking up toward the sky, watching the things fly around above the tree line, and thinking that the mortality rate would be 99.9% in all accidents occurring with them. I mean, if not from an impact (I assume they'll be light and provide less protection than a car), or an explosion (possibly, I guess), they'll likely have to fall from at least a hundred feet in the air. And, at least when a car breaks down or runs out of fuel you'll still be on the ground.

I think it's safer and more practical to keep flight a commercial and private aviator privilege for now.
