Hullo there, some of you may know me and most of you probably don't but I'm not bothered about that.

See, I made a character called David who keeps a journal of people he has met here, writing about them and their species which you can see here (Second and third post of the topic, warning: tons o' text to read.)

It's all written tongue in cheek and IC with the odd OOC comment in italics but eventually, the damn thing got a bit too messy for my liking since David started updating info on people and in general, not making much sense as some updates required you to know about other updates.

Thus, the diary was born and now, he talks about his current actions in that.

As for the journal, it remains dormant despite having met new people in the past which is why I am thinking about scrapping the old one and re writing it.

But now it's up to you! Choose which option you think is best. Bear in mind I wanted the journal to be something newcomers could look at, read through and actually understand what David was saying, even if his information was a little "questionable". Oh and don't confuse the diary with the journal either, the diary is the last post in the topic... Which also needs updating, dammit!

Keep writing one. It'll be interesting to hear what you have to say about the various people who've come along. Though if you feel inclined to re-organize it into a better format, then you should do so. It's your work, after all. But better keep the old one around for posterity and reference and what not.

I think the journal is fine, since it's certainly amusing as heck to read, which is big points in my book.

That said, if you feel the need to reorganize it, I say go for it.

As to how to reorganize it, I'd leave that to you, but the entries by character is alright, but if you did chronogical-ish entries, and just include sub categories per entry about other characters, that may help reading it, and prevent you from having to update the same posts over and over and eventually max out the page limits. ;P

I've read it, and I recommend that you (or David) spend some time here at "Messageboardland" as well, seeing as IRC isn't the entirety of MSF. ;p So, yes, why not continue it? And if you're interested in MSF's history at all, you'll have an easier time finding more of the old fogies here than in IRC. (Xia can probably give enough, but he doesn't know everything despite how much he'd like anyone to think so. XD) Of course, a good portion of them are easiest to reach via PM than anywhere else since many have drifted away or haven't the time or interest that they once had. (For any interest in the old fogies (;p), seek such people as: Garath; Kether; Xia (as mentioned already); Nina; Frost/Princess Shiko; Handmaiden Tanya; Coruscate; Lioconvoy; Autumn; Karmelo... There may be a few more, but that should be most of the ones that you'd have any luck contacting.) Well, that's all assuming that you'd want to gather information on anyone to begin with rather than just gleaning things from the experiences that you have. If that's the case, don't lurk more here at the forums. ;p

Oh, and I didn't vote; the options were undesirable. It may have been mentioned before (was it Gwen?), but you could just organize what you have and continue onward.

OK, just thought I'd say a couple of things. At the moment David is busy in IRC land and I'm not sure if he will interact with the "board" part of here. And yes, I could ask for info via pm's and such but that would be cheating :p I want David to "learn" about things himself or from other characters ICly, it makes for better "reading" I suppose.

As for the new journal (Which seems to be the most popular option at the moment), I will probably have it laid out so it's like

Species: whatever

blah blah blah info and maybe sub headings for people he has met for that particular species but instead of writing little event updates, it's going to be like a character description of them, how he feels about the person and so on. Any changes about them will simply be editted and that way, it won't become a huge mess.

It'll make more sense once I get to work on it.

Oh and if you appear in this journal then chances are he will say some stupid stuff about your character and I wouldn't expect it to be much of a guide either.

Oh that was just a silly joke I made, chances are if David met Musa then he'd probably be just confused, I'm not too sure.
Of course being in a different time zone makes such meetings difficult as well.

People can get written about if David hears about them as not everyone in the journal has met him but I'm just genuinely surprised anyone would want to be in this stupid thing, it's main purpose was to poke fun at characters and sometimes, getting things hilariously wrong though there are a few bits where he really does his research as is evident by the Eternal or Aeternal section, whatever.

I believe that one can not truly find a complete sense of humor unless they can laugh at themselves. Besides which, it can rub people the wrong way if someone is always laughing at others. Oddly enough, I'm serious about being a cosmic joke. XD

Yeah, that's another thing I didn't like about the old one. Bit too much of a favouritism thing going on there so this new one should be more balanced but of course, it depends on if he gets any info on the person.
