no, really, my attempts at people make stick figures look good. Besides that fact, I'm a writer, not an artist.

You are what your heart's desire is. If you're a writer but secretly lust after art skills, then you're meant to do art too -- no matter how much you attempt to silence that muse with claims of inadequacy.

There are ways of improving from stick figures. I'll elaborate in a thread I'll make later.

I've drawn things for several years. I can do buildings, scenery, inanimate objects etc etc etc. I can't draw people worth crap. I've never been able to and I accept it. I enjoy writing, although I've never done tg writing. It's what I do and do well. I don't feel the need to become an artist. I've never enjoyed drawing as I've enjoyed writing and don't really feel the desire to devote the time (nor the money to buy a scanner or any materials to draw well) that would be required to draw people better. I appreciate people who can draw very much, I just recognize that my talents lie elsewhere.

Alrighty, Aaron. I'm not going to twist your arm. If you're not willing or it's not that important to you, then I'll take your word for it.

I just thought of something that might be interesting for you to try... or at least, something I'd be interested in seeing how you do it, if you try it at all. And Its only a suggestion. Try a still life, or a pose of someone or a picture of someone doing something, or sitting in an interesting place, and draw everything but the person. Like.. leave a blank space where the person is, and what they block in your view, as in don't fill in what you can't see, but don't try to draw the person. That'd be kinda neat looking.. but it'd also probably take alot of time.

Okay but now to be serious. The real reason that I opened this thread is for my art to get critiqued. You see as my signature says I will be making a comic called Tale of the Three Kingdoms, based off of the book Romance of the Three Kingdoms. In this thread I will be posting my art and asking what could be done to improve upon it. With each post, excluding this one, I will post one or more characters with a personality description and role in the story. Now don't think that I'm copying the story from the book word for word, like I said this comic is BASED off of the book. It will have an original internal story with the Three Kingdoms conflict as the back story. Tell me what you think and next time you hear from me I will have my first character with me.

I sort of did that when I was an architecture major. We basically had to complete a week of sketches and showcase our best ones. They were all of buildings, of course. It was essentially impossible to make a good grade without showing action, so my showcase sketch did have people in it. Of course, since I suck at drawing people, they were all essentially sillouhettes (well, in some cases, basic hair and clothing lines were in it, but no actual detail).

Okay here's the first character:

And although it's still in crappy pencil at least you can see it now.

Okay, here's the character personality so far. His name going to be Kuan Zhu. I figured I make him one of those characters that are rash and quick to act with a hot temper and all that jazz. As you see he has a Bo staff, that’s because I've always been a fan of the staff. He is going to be one of the main characters along with two other characters. All three live in the same village and have known each other for a long time.

I'm going to try to get the others done soon but I have only a little idea of what they are going to look like.
