Let's Write a Story

Being restless and noticing that there isn't much activity in this forum lately, how about a creative writing project. So, I've been wanting to do something like Rival Schools for a while, so I'm gonna try to work something out with that.

Letsee, I'll say there are three or four schools in a Tri-County American area where strange things are happening, and since this is above the police's radar, a few outstanding students from each school'll have to investigate on their own.

Mac and Machiavelli: At the prestigious South Machiavelli High School, a large emphasis is placed on academics and fine arts. Even the most battered and brain damaged football player has an excellent GPA and a taste for culture. In the sea air and warm sun of the beach it's on, the fates have been conspiring. People have been going missing and the people who come back aren't who they were before.

MacKenzie Wilson is a cheerleader and the child of the cheerleading coach, Maryweather Wilson who pulled strings to get Mac in. Mac is shy, secluded and likes old detective novels. But what makes Mac really reclusve is the fact that Mac's actually a boy living as a girl. She changes in a different room and avoids cheerleader social funtions as a general rule. Now, with strange things going on, and the eye of suspicion being cast out, Mac has no choice but to team up with schoolmates to solve this mystery before someone solves her own.

Anybody up for helping with this?

Of course I'll have you. Start where ya like. There are two or three schools that I haven't come up with and a multitude of students, even from Machiavelli that I haven't designed.

What I have been working on is The South Machiavelli Academy for the Arts and Sciences. I've been thinking it should be a beachfront prepatory academy as previously mentioned, with an emphasis on arts and culture. But, so as to have balanced students offer a number of athletics and extra curricular activities.

Anyone else wanna hop on the wagon before it careens over the cliff of completion? This is intended to be a community project.

I would be willing to help out. I'm sure I've got some off-beat notions I could funnel into this. And if nothing else, there's my editorial abilities. By the way, sorry I haven't done that editing you asked me to yet; I've been focusing on my NaNoWriMo project. :P It'll be soon, though, I promise.

It's all cool. Editings done now. I'd be glad to have your help with this.

Anybody else? C'mon. It's still in the developmental stages! It has potential!

Although I hate to double post, I'd like to elucidate on my plans for this.

Here's how I see it. People who want to work on this can choose a particular element they want to flesh out, like a school or a character, and get together with people working on a similar topic to bang out a story. Ideally there'll be one story for each school and the school's little amatuer investigative squad, then a final story to wrap things up.

Of course, free ideas and elements are welcome and can hopefully be added in. But, all of these stories will tie into each other and certain concrete events that will be decided upon by all the writer-type people will be happening to lead into the final story.

Anything non-school based in the works?

I'm open to suggestion, but I am attatched to the principle of having separate stories coming together towards one conclusion, like the different schools.

I'd be willing to work on a school. Anyone got any notions to throw out? Let's see here.... I saved some stuff from the Anime Title Generator on the Seventh Sanctum website (I can post the link, if anyone wants it)' I'll se if any of it is applicable. I remember one of the ones I saved, for sheer silliness factor, was the phrase "High School Sailor Cybernetics," but I dunno if anyone can actually use that here. I'll look and see what else might be applicable.

Goodonya, Guen! That's the spirit! I'm still working on what specifically is happening with the students and where it's gonna' lead. PM me if you've got any ideas on that, cuz I don't want to spoil it for potential readers.

Glad you like it! Maybe I'll send you some choice bits from the list and see if we can get any notions out of that.

Okay, since there are only three of us doing this, perhaps we should each take and make a school and it's little squad of students. We will want the stories to cross over, have the characters meet and end up leading to the same conclusion, so you'll probably have to consult the other writers on some points.

The motivation is students dissapearing and coming back with completely different personalities and possibly physical changes.
