Zack's Pictorium!

Postby Zack » Tue Mar 09, 2004 12:38 am

I'd seen that request for more art here today, and thought to myself 'I'll give the ole mole a wack'n'! So like, three hours later, this is what I came up with...

http://home.earthlink.net/~seiki666/ima ... /tidus.jpg

That's a picture of Tidus from FFX, with Yuna behind him kinda going 'When I asked for you to be brought alive, like me, I didn't mean like this!' Or that's what she migh tbe saying, and stuff.

http://home.earthlink.net/~seiki666/ima ... /auron.jpg

That's kinda what I figure Auron would look like as a chick, with a quicky sketch of Rikku taking notice behind.

http://home.earthlink.net/~seiki666/ima ... /seiki.jpg

This one isn't really any fan art but it looks like it could have been a boy at some point, before something or other happened.

Anyway. I think I posted this in the right space! I hope you all enjoy!
Zack

Wow! That Tidus pic is wholly awesome! You almost got a same sort of look as Amano (I think that's his name), the official FF artist guy. The pose is great, and the composition too. The main draw of Tidus's open chest is nicely balanced with Yuna's face behind the chair, even if the colors are busier than they should be near the edges.

What kind of watercolor did you use? What kind of paper? How did you ink it?
I'm realy courious 'cause I want to start doing watercolors too.

::edit:: The expression on Tidus' face is realy powerfull, but the pose doesn't quite fit, and Tidus is just staring ahead. If (s)he were looking into a mirror after suddenly falling from the sky it would make sense, but there isn't much to indicate (or hint at) a mirror or falling. Painting in a wooden frame around the piece would show that Tidus is looking into a mirror, and draw the audience even more into the picture than Tidus's eyes alone do.

Yeah! I'm a big fan of Amano, actually. I got these old watercolors I've had for like.. five years.. um.. Sakura ones, I think. In the tubes. That stuff lasts *forever*, let me tell you! Which is one of the reasons why I like watercolors (Cost effectiveness). It's.. basic water color paper. Slightly bumpy, I think. Then I took some precision style Sakura pens and stuff to go over the fine lines.. and... um.. a fat old permenant marker for the larger dark areas....
And you make a good point about the pose and all. I'll tell you, I like using models for my pictures, because they always come out more detailed and all... so what I do is flip through magazines and stuff for reference shots. The wooden frame thing is a great idea..! I think I may actually bust down and do that. Thanks!

Yes yes, many advices. Take life drawing classes, cuz like.. once you can draw a slightly moving subject in real life, it's absolutely nothing using various pictures and hashing them together in your head for new poses and.. clothes.. stuff... and...

I guess I didn't have as much advices as I said... hrm. I had fished through this place a few times before, but never felt the urge to post on the boards. And after looking a little more.. It occured to me that I'd done a TG type of comic a while back. Like, 6 pages of it, or some such. And no one got naked in it! So maybe someone will get a kick out of it.

Now isn't this funny, the same day Lady Sakura puts up an art forum, you show up. Welcome, welcome... welcome to the castle of doooooooooooom!

Whoops, wrong thread.

Welcome to MSF, it's cool to see another artist here, a good one I might add. Like all of us there's room for improvement, but you're very good. I liked the watercolors, you managed to add a good deal of depth to your work.

Raijin : What he says, take a class, and draw from real life. Don't try to draw from anime all the time. Also... how well you can draw something is partially determined by how well you see it in your own head. Examine everything you draw. If you can, get something you can pick up with your hands and move.

See... this is why I like the net. A chance to actually talk to the people who demonstrate such incredible talent and leech good artwork from 'em. So, did the comic ever reach anything close to a conclusion?
Da list; Sakraida82, Cow Bell Man, Resident E.V.I.L.
