Since Video Games doesn't have a poll, which is stupid...

I'll have to bring the discussion of these video games here.

The 16-bit era saw the golden age of RPGs. Well, that's how I see it, anyway. ;p It's always fun to look back on them. But I realize that not everyone was young/old enough to be introduced to them back when they came out, and either due to the difficulty of getting a physical copy of the game, or, having been raised in the 3D era, don't want to put the time and/or effort to experience them.

Now, since the poll is limited to fifteen options, it goes without saying that not every notable RPG will be listed. That's okay. You can discuss a 16-bit RPG game if it's not in the poll. The poll serves another function, anyway. Hooray for multiple choice~

(Yes, the games on the list are based on my personal experience and taste. So sue me. ;p)

I could have voted for them all, but I only voted for Lufia 2 and other.

Lufia 2 is in my opinion the best game ever. If you like old school RPGs and you like puzzle solving and you have never played Lufia 2 - GO PLAY IT NOW!

Chrono Trigger only has one vote? For shame! May Lavos have mercy on you all.

Note: If you enjoyed them all, you're supposed to vote for them all... You have done Chrono Trigger a great disservice...

Well, I did enjoy them all, but relatively speaking... Lufia 2 absolutely blows the rest out of the water.

Lufia 2's ending made me cry, and I'm not an emotional person. It was just that good.

I concur that it was a great game. It was one of the few that I thought was really down to Earth. I mean, marriage during the progress of the story, rather than at the end? I also thought its "limit" system (what more people are familiar with in the Final Fantasy series) was superior, in its function, flexibility and variety. The puzzles can actually be challenging.

And the one-hundred-floor dungeon... Whoa. @_@

If Lufia 2 ever got a true sequel I would die of happiness. And no, I don't count Lufia 3 or 4, they were not true sequels. And no, I don't count Lufia 1, even though it was a true sequel. I'm hard to please.

Until then, I shall have to ponder about Arek the Absolute.

I've beaten the 99 floor dungeon 3 times =D. One of them was on an emulator though, and I totally cheated with save states.

But oh God, poor Maxim, SPOILERSmarrying Selan. I'd hate to see the bruises he gets when it's her time of the month

DOUBLEPOST FTW!

Edit: Wow, editing the double post made it a triple post. I blame the shenanigans the other week for this.

You fool! You should be able to delete the extra post, if no one has posted after it. Well, at least that's what I thought... I know I can do it. At least in the forums where I've had that happen. Oh, well.

Hey, mod people! Clean up in aisle 5! Don't be lazy bums!

Shouldn't you have said that in a PM?

Or should we do a chain delete together? GOGO TEAMWORK!

Edit: I don't think i can do it at all

Let me see... Nope. Maybe it's just in the Polls, because of the polls. But it'd be nice to be able to delete your own posts.

Hm. You're right. I thought the earliest was with the Sega Saturn.

Still, was it really that notable? I agree that they're good games, but I don't think they had much of any following in America until they were re-released on the Playstation. I mean, I owned a Sega-CD almost as soon as it came out, and I never heard of its existence. Both my mother and I were keen to keep our eyes open for RPG titles. And she usually had no problem getting them since the place where we got games allowed its customers to make installed payments over time to pay for them. (So we usually got games in bulk.)

I suppose, if I could, I'd replace the first Lufia and Breath of Fire with the Lunar games. But, since I can't, we'll have to make do with the last option.
