I'd try to find a way back. It's not so bad if it's permanent and there's nothing I can do about it, that doesn't bother me. If there's nothing I can do, I probably won't do it.

I'm with you on looking for the way back. The struggle is more interesting storytelling, as a whole. Not to mention less common, which is always good.

I like the idea of slowly accepting the changes, and that's probably what I'd e nd up doing in that situation, though it's hard to say without experiencing it.
