I'm more familiar with OAV, but OVA is tempting because it sounds feminine.

OAV since its what I always verbally call it. I will admit I see the OVA written more often though.

OVA is what i usually remeber it and call it by.

Actually, they don't seem to be for me. For OVA, it's like saying what kind of thing it is more than you need to, and OAV says what kind of original video it is. The last one makes more sense to me. ;/

really? I find that interesting, 'cuz OVA always just sounded more "correct" to me...Original Animation Video just, I dunno, seemed overly complex or something.

The whole argument is kinda silly though...none of this stuff is really "video" anymore anyhow ^^;;

Sure it's redundant. In the context, original video and original animation mean the same thing. Adding animation after video is more than what's needed because they are both nouns that way. On the other hand, with video following animation, animation instead specifies what kind of video it is. At least that's my understanding of the English language. XD

But it doesn't really matter. I'll still go with OVA because it sounds feminine. ;p

(And it's still video since videos show pictures. The medium, tape, on the other hand, is going extinct.)
