Personality:
Because Raiden looks harsh, people don’t normally approach him unless it’s official business. On the outside he may be mean looking, and a harsh lieutenant, but if people get to know him they reveal a side they never knew about him. He hides his true feelings from other people because he’s afraid they might consider him weak, like they did when he was alive in the human world. The only people that he truly becomes friends with are the people that approach him first and talk to him. If he thinks they’re true enough, that they won’t “hurt”, he’ll become friends with him. Although he trusts everyone in his squad, his captain the more than the others. Not being able to be truly happy, besides few key moments, he keeps him self distant from most people. He doesn’t mind someone being friendly; he just prefers being a loner. He dislikes picking on people and obnoxious jerks. If someone picks the fight first, he won't have a problem fighting back. He only fights if it's necessary, and takes precautions when going into battle. Because of what happened before entering the soul Society, Raiden takes everything over the top, Treating the simplest mission very seriously. Under pressure he seems very calm and rarely shows his true emotions. He does find certain things amusing and he will smile on rare occasions. He enjoys reading in his spare time, and also, practicing his swordsmanship. He mainly doesn’t get to attached to anyone because he’s afraid that they’ll get hurt, thus what happened to his mother. (see History) He has a unique talent of remembering anything he’s seen, heard, or read. A photographic memory in the simplest term. He’s also a genius in sword combat. Seeing as his name means “Lightening God” he is believed to have immense speed. His weaknesses include, not being very good at performing Kidos, because of poor reiatsu output and not being very well equipped/good at long ranged combat. He keeps searching for his mother since the accident (a few centuries ago) but has not found her since. He searches the outside villages and his old hometown from time to time, to see if he can find her.
Appearance:
Raiden has dark chocolate brown shoulder length hair, sometimes in a pony tail. Two long bangs hang down from the top of his head. He has slightly broad shoulders and a pointed chin. He rarely ever smiles, besides the times when he truly finds something amusing. His eyes are a light Amber, and seem friendly, but harsh at the same time, when he has flashbacks of before he was killed he looks pained, and sometimes sad. A distinguishable feature on him is a curved scar, leading from his right jaw line to the top of his cheek. He stands at 6 feet, two inches and weighs around one hundred and eighty pounds. His face is slender, and he is skinny, but does have a muscle, that’s what makes up most of his weight. Because of his physical appearance some people make fun of him because he looks weak, but are greatly mistake when they take him on in combat. Mainly because of his slim structure he’s very fluid with his movements in combat.
His outfit is standard Shinigami wear, a Black robe with a white tie around white belt, and the white outline. The bottom of the robe reaches to just above his feet, like all the other Shinigami robes, along with the standard white socks and platform like sandals. His sword is located on the left side of his waist with a normal leather sheath. Inside of his robes, his upper body is covered with bandages, as if he was trying to hide something from the others. One personal item he keeps with him is a journal he received when he entered the Soul Society. He keeps this journal in an inner pocket on the right side of his uniform. He records what he does everyday, and everything interesting or out of the ordinary. The journal is black with his name inscribed on the binding, along with a pencil clipped in the same pocket at the journal.
History/Background:
Raiden was born into the Gakushoku family on January 8th, 1918 in Sandai Japan. As he grew up he was made fun of, and pushed around to the point of tears. People thought of him as weak and helpless, which made him an easy target. At the age of five his father left his mother, taking Raiden's sister with him, and never returned home. Thus he grew up, being the “man of the house”. This changed Raiden’s entire outlook on life. He now believed it was survival of the fittest. He joined the after school Kendo club, which met on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays and received an after school job at the local Grocers Tuesday s, and Thursdays. Because his mother worked double jobs, after work/kendo he would go home and make dinner. Because of joining kendo, he became more adept in combat and stronger as well. Seven years of age: After a few bullies tried to go at him, they were soon warded off by his new physical prowess. Even though, people did not pick on him anymore, they still avoided him and made his life difficult. Tripping him, moving his stuff around, and even blaming certain pranks on him, it never stopped. When he was at the age of eleven he met a girl name Naomi. She was and had been his only friend. Being kind to him, and accepting him for who he was. For once he was happy, besides the times he was with his mother. But like all good things it had to come to an end. When he turned 16, Naomi moved away to the other end of Japan. This crushed him and for years he missed his closest friend. At least he had his mother.
Now the head of his kendo Club at the age of 18, he became a strong leader, and scolded other for being upset if they lost, or being a poor sport. He pushed the members until he thought they were good enough for competitions against other schools. He was now also manager of the store that he worked at. His mom, was still working double jobs to save up for collage for him, pay the rent, and pay for food, while his pay paid for gas, water, and everything else. At the Age of nineteen he had just finished walking back from Kendo practice one day and was almost at his house when an explosion took out the second floor of his building. Panicking, because his mother was home early from her jobs, she had over worked herself and was home sick, he ran inside to see what had happened. All the while praying that nothing had happened to her, she was the only person in his life that cared about him. That kept him alive everyday. She gave him a reason to live. As he made it to the second floor, he noticed his mother’s body lying on the ground, everything in the room completely obliterated. Tables and chairs in shambles and splinters. He looked around the room, and out of the corner of his eye he noticed a shimmer, almost like something was there. But he thought that was impossible, nothing could be there, he was just seeing things. The next thing he knew he was on the ground, and was looking at his body half way across the room, a chain connecting him to it. He looked up to see what had happened and he saw the Hollow. The hollow appeared to have a long centipede like body, a white skull mask with purple markings on it, and two scythe arms. He didn’t see his mothers’ spirit. Only her body and he had to assume that this creature had killed her, and it had. Attempting to get up, he staggered and tried to take on the monster, which was a futile attempt. The Hollow ended up cutting him up pretty badly and left the scar on his right cheek. He collapsed, about to give up when he heard a voice “Well that was idiotic, taking on a hollow as a spirit. Ha.” Suddenly there was a flash, and the hollow fell, disintegrating as it fell, its horrendous white mask, cut it two. He started to feel himself slowly slip away, like we were floating. Just before he lost consciousness, he heard foot steps near him, and then a slight pressure against his forehead. Now he really felt like he was floating, as a blue light enveloped him and he woke up in a bed in one of the many Rukongai towns. He lay in the bed for two weeks while his wounds healed. Borrowing a journal from one of the people he wrote in it every day, and kept it on his person. Other Souls lending a hand to him until he fully recovered.
It wasn’t long until he was brought in by the Soul Society. In the towns others saw him as a powerful person, and when a pair of Shinigami were patrolling the Rukonga, they sensed his massive spiritual pressure. He was later enrolled in the academy and graduated 2nd of his class in combat and 5th in kido. 30 years after the Academy and after being enrolled in squad seven for a bit, he learned the name of his Zanpakuto. Because he learned his Zanpakutos name, and seemed solid as a leader, they assigned him to squad nine.
Zanpaktou:
Name: Karui Sokudo (Light Speed)
Manifestation:
The spirit that resides within Karui Sokudo takes the form of a six foot tall, grey anthropomorphic wolf wearing blue clothing with a yellow trim. Sporting a styling Samurai style pony tail he resides in Raiden's inner world, that being the inside of a thunder cloud, thunder and lightening constantly shooting in and out of the seemly infinite area.

Blade Description:
Sealed: Karui Sokudo Sealed
Shikai: When released Karui Sokudo because substantially lighter, practically all the weight being located in the actual blade of the sword more than anywhere else. The handle of the zanpaktou's shika form is black and white like the blade of the sword itself. Both aerodynamic designs, and it's extra foot in length gives it a sleek appearance. The hilt changes from a shuriken shape to an outward saucer look. The blade itself still inscribed with the three words: "Speed, Courage, Intelligence" and grows another half a foot in length, curving slightly. The tip also becomes razor sharp and deadly accurate in combat.

1. Denkou Himei (Lightning Shriek)
Description: Using his zanpaktou, Raiden conducts electricity into his blade from the air around him and fires it in concentrated bursts when swinging his blade. He usually uses this attack when commencing a downward slash, or an upper ward slash making a large electrical crescent shape that can hone in on an enemy.

2. Dendoushiki Myakuhaku (Electric Pulse)
Description: When in close proximity of the opponent, or guarding against an attack Raiden places Karui in front of him in a guard stance and yells out the command. When he does this, anything within a 20 ft X 20 ft radius is pushed back, repelled if you will, by a major release of electricity and spiritual energy. This can also be used as a quick shield in an emergency.
