((Keep in mind, I use him in an RP where just about everyone is like SSJ3 or something...so he's actually a relatively weak character there.))

Name: Rin Ashura (阿修羅 凛)

Aliases: Polecat, Skunky, 'That Rogue White Mage', The Soul Evoker, Rin the Chain Caster.

Age: Unknown.

Height: 5ft, 4in.

Weight: 115 - 129lbs.

Species: Nekomata

Class: White Mage/Summoner

Profession: Nomadic Healer

Relatives: Seto Ashura (father/deceased), Crème LeBlanc (older half-brother/deceased), Briar Vartan (mother), Lia Locke (step-aunt), Mayuka Tenou (step-aunt), Yume Miru (uncle/currently missing), Yume Nyami (aunt-in-law & mentor).

Allies: Garath Xion (mentor), Belvedere the White Mage (mentor/deceased), Inuzuka the Dog Demon (closest friend and retainer), Targa Sinclair (friend).

Enemies: Currently none.

Area of Expertise: Technically a Red Mage, due to his proficiency in various areas of spell crafting, it is Rin's preference toward White Magic which earns him the title of 'White Mage'. Yet it is his unique ability to simultaneously cast – and sometimes link in multiples – high level spells that has earned him the title of Chain Caster. The Hachifusa Majutsu (or Eightfold Magic) technique he mastered through unknown means allows him to multiply a certain spell up to eight times before casting, storing the necessary spell energy in the 'palm of his hand', so to speak, until ready to be released.

With this working hand-in-hand with his Doublecast spell that fires a spell twice, Rin has perfected his own spell known as Chaincast that allows him to freely cast up to eight spells simultaneously in a row, without exhaustion. Outside of White Magic, Rin is a fairly talented Summoner and utilizes sword-training in and outside of combat. Due to his fairly small physique, his strength is nothing phenomenal, but he makes up for this with agility and clever spell-weaving while on the fly.

He is an adept alchemist, a perfectionist when it comes to uncovering and developing new spells and techniques, and possesses decent skill with a Japanese sword. He is proficient with high-density barriers, having learned from one of the best tutors—The Celestial Nyami.

Weapon of Choice: Shinrikyou, a long chokuto sword with an ornate silver guard depicting the quarreling dragon & tiger and also featuring a Chinese-styled pommel with a ruby-red knotted tassel. The blade is broad, thick, and flat, capable of heavy swings while still maintaining the maneuverability accredited to Japanese swords. It is capable of generating intense non-elemental 'flames' up to a thousand times hotter than a small star or colder than the arctic winds, and legends also speak of 'the creation of life'. Though the 'life creation' aspects of the sword's abilities are yet explored, the Shinrikyou displays some sentience apart from its wielder's consciousness and is said to awaken a person's true powers in times of need.

Appearance: Rin looks about as threatening, in all his angst and nonplussed indifference, as a two-year-old armed with a plastic spoon. He stands no taller than five feet and six inches on a prayer, and weighs an underwhelming one-hundred and forty pounds while soaking wet. He is slim and boasts hardly any muscle at all, save for obvious training in his lower extremities and a little brawn along his forearms—just enough necessary for his profession. His complexion is that of milk-chocolate. He is rarely seen without of his signature white, hooded trenchcoat. It is made of dressed leather and has small red triangular patterns around the cuffs of the sleeves and the edge of the hood, which is the traditional garb of white mages. Beneath it, he wears a neatly creased crimson long-sleeved shirt, white slacks, and beige snake-skin boots.

His hair is cut short and naturally a glossy black, cut just above his shoulders and gelled back in a windswept design pulled toward the nape of his neck. An extremely scant few bangs (Usually two or three) spill forward and hang over his right eye. The top of his mane is bleached platinum white while the sides remain dire black, earning him the unwelcome nickname of 'polecat' or 'skunky' due to his white and black cropped-and-brushed hair. In his various forms, his sea-foam blue eyes sparkle ethereally, perhaps suggesting his true age despite a remarkably gentle face.

In his normal form, he looks no more distinguishable from a human than any other but his cat-like, pointed ears tend to surface, as well as his two lengthy black tails, whenever emotional stress pushes him to his limit. When conserving strength, he typically masquerades around as a jet-black cat with two tails and since his true demon form has never been seen, it is assumed to be far too dangerous or uncontrollably for Rin to risk venturing.

Personality: Rin is cold and taciturn, a calculatingly young cruel man. Though he looks particularly harmless, his deceptive cunning and powerful spells make him a dangerous foe to come up against. He does not display any form of conscience, acting only for his own goals, but deep down Rin is a narcissist—a self-deluded egotist who views the rest of the world with contempt and disdain, yet he still struggles to retain his sense of humanity despite himself.

His social Darwinism stems from a painful childhood. He never met his mother due to unfortunate circumstances surrounding his birth and his father perished when he was very young. Regardless, Rin treats every problem life with the detached, objective view of a scientist and sometimes a mathematician, regarding everything in the form of a variable or equation to be solved through the process of trial and error. Despite how emotionless he seems from the onset, Rin actually displays a wide range of emotions, though usually in a discreet manner.

In battle, Rin enjoys aggravating his opponents through keeping himself constantly healed. And despite how many attacks they may throw his way, he continuously regenerates time and time again. However, when taking a fight seriously, Rin is far more likely to use Eightfold Magic to 'dump' consecutive spells on his opponent – faster than they can recover from them – until his foes simply surrender or are utterly obliterated.

History: He was born into strife; he never chose it. As the son of Seto Ashura, a legend to some and an annoyance that simply wouldn't die to others, he was cast into his father's shoes from the very day he came into this world. And unfortunately for him, his dear old dad had already run off and died somewhere. His mother was young at the time and wanted the best for her son, yet the half-bred child was taken from her by enemies of her estranged lover and raised as a member of a questionable religious order—known as the Society of Reis. There, he met his first fatherly figure, Belvedere the White Mage, who would lay down the foundations and morals by which Rin would live his life.

Belvedere raised Rin, often telling him stories of his mother although the order frowned on such behavior; they did not want Rin to know of his mother, or of their hand in his kidnapping. Educating the boy in white magic, Belvedere had high hopes for the boy. But in a complete shift of nature, Rin turned and slaughtered the man once he had learned all he could from Belvedere and quickly fled the Society of Reis under cover of nightfall. There, he traveled on the road for quite some time, yet never remained in one place for very long. Being in control of his demonic blood, and the powers accredited to it, he was easily able to mask himself in human society for a few years, live a normal life-span, and move on before locals became suspicious of his unusual longevity.

As time passed, his (human) mother eventually passed away. Rin took the blow hard, turning his bitterness and hatred inward. It eventually turned into painful self-loathing and he blamed himself for not being there when his mother needed him most. It was then that he ran afoul of a man known simply as Yume Miru. This traveling necromancer had been not only his father's ally, but was actually a cloned duplicate of Seto Ashura at one time—before earning his own soul and persona. Realizing whose blood flowed within Rin's veins, Miru took the boy in as his own protégé for some time. As Miru searched for where his wife – the Celestial Ten-tailed Fox, Nyami– had ventured off to in his absence, he decided to lecture the boy in philosophy and worldly affairs, yet refrained from training Rin in necromancy. It was a skill he previously vowed never to teach after the death of his own son, Macha.

Many of Rin's unsavory personality quirks would eventually be learned from this man. Somewhere along the line, Rin left Miru's guidance and once again traveled on his own to study Greater White Magic. But figuring that White Magic would not be sufficient in a world where he traveled alone, he began learning a few practical and offensive uses for his spells, not to mention a few attack spells. While training one day, another demon from his era came before him and challenged Rin to a duel. Facing off against an inugami demon that presented an insurmountable obstacle to best, Rin lost the duel but gained an unlikely ally. Claiming that Rin had 'far more potential' than he himself had, the demon opted to teach Rin in exchange for a companion to share his tales with. The demon, known as Inuzuka, had lived for such a long time that life no longer held meaning. In Rin, he saw a worth successor.

The two would be together for many years, where Rin continually progressed until finally meeting Miru's wife, Nyami. He could still remember Miru's tales of his wife, the accomplished spiritualist and servant-avatar of the Shinto Sun Goddess, Amaterasu. Rin wasted no time in vying for his worth against Nyami's guardian, the Corpse Eating Dragon, Nidhogg, utilizing a vast array of summoned allies he had gathered along the way. Although he could not defeat Nyami, he proved himself to her and studied under her for two years, learning the basics of how to craft barriers and defensive magic. It is also here that he gained a new ally, Aasterinian—the messenger of Io/Nidhogg.

However, one night, beneath a full moon, Rin once again packed his belongings and left without a word. On the road again, he found himself lost in a desert wasteland and staving both spiritually and physically (being half human). Passed out in the sand, he was discovered by a caravan of traders and escorted off into the night. When he awoke once more, he would be surrounded by water. He was in Raftfleet, a nomadic village comprised raft-mounted houses and shops. A girl living alone there was the first to greet him, claiming herself to have looked after him and tended his fever after the caravan left him behind. Although he hated to admit it, Rin was in the girl's debt and would go on to spend six months in Raftfleet until he stubbornly learned the girl's name—Mitharga "Targa" Sinclair. (Rin usually calls people 'you' or 'idiot' unless he respects them.)

One day, Raftfleet came under attack by pirates. In a rare display of charity, Rin sank their ships, pilfered their bounty, and gave it to Raftfleet officials in exchange for his own vessel. And when he left, Targa went with him on her own boat to see him off. Somehow, she wound up staying by his side to the point of straying several miles from Raftfleet, far beyond the option of turning back. So she stayed with him and began traveling as an attendant, usually carrying his supplies or fetching herbs and such. A short while, traveling with Targa, Rin came across a jewel that was practically forced upon him by his former mentor and uncle, Yume Miru.

Unable to understand it's purpose, Rin pocketed it and challenged his uncle to a duel; the victor would have any request fulfilled. Rin wished to learn necromancy. However, Miru easily crushed Rin in combat and, using an arcane spell, sent Rin and Targa into the past in order to teach the boy how to learn from his mistakes. But the plan must have backfired. Rin mercilessly slaughtered his past self and absorbed the body (becoming a full demon in the process) shortly before embarking from the Society of Reis and decided to heal his mother of the illness which killed her. He did heal her illness, but then she was taken away before fully awakening from her coma by unknown sinister forces. Now, Rin seeks to track his mother down and rescue her from her captors.

Natural Abilities:

Hachifusa Majutsu or the Technique of Eightfold Magic which is accredited mostly to a genetic trait. Because of this, only a select few can even conquer the basics of developing Eightfold Magic and lesser still go on to master Eightfold Magic as Rin has. Technically, this is a careful blend of sorcery, telepathy, and ventriloquism that yields frighteningly destructive results.

Spells and Techniques:

Mend: A simple healing spell that draws upon the user's own life-force to heal wounds. Depending on how much energy the caster places into the spell upon conjuring, the spell can heal small wounds or even reattach lost limbs.

Ply: A spell which encases the target in a protective ward that adheres to their body like a second skin. This ward is minimal at best, utilized to shield from indirect damage from spells (such as heat burns, debris, etc.) and although Ply can dampen the damage done from a direct attack, a clean stroke from a sword or spell can carve through this small defensive spell.

Remand: A basic reflection spell which repels enemy projectile attacks but is useless against close-quarter melee.

Gigas' Stone Wall: An ancient defense spell that erects a gigantic slab of impenetrable stone in front of the caster, barring most physical attacks. In addition to providing defense, this slab can be pushed over onto and sometimes thrown at an enemy if the cast has the means to do so. Invocation: "Rock on! Gigas' Stone Wall"

Grand Matriarch: A partial summoning spell, this summons up a root of the Genesis Ash Tree Yggdrasil. The caster physically yanks the enormous root up and out of the ground and pulls the underside of the root high enough to duck behind. The soul-eating root (only the underside of the root) of Yggdrasil devours any sort of spiritual essence, turning enemy attacks into ethereal lunch-meat for the Genesis Tree. Likewise, anyone caught standing too closely to it is exposed to suffering a soul-drain as well. Due to the nature of this spell, this places other spiritual creatures like himself at a great disadvantage.

Gigas' Stone Fortress: The successor of the Gigas' Stone Wall, Rin created this spell out of extensively studying the latter and improving upon it. Similarly to the Stone Wall, Stone Fortress erects several impregnable stone monoliths to form a dome-like shell around an entire area, typically as large as a football stadium. This spell can also be used as an attack, by applying spiritual pressure to the interior of the Fortress. This cases the rocky panels to explode outward, not unlike a fragmentation grenade. Invocation: "Take me down to the Paradise City! Gigas' Stone Fortress!"

Aegis Guard: A spell which summons the shield of Athena. It is a heart-shaped shield that bears the motif of a Medusa's head on the front. This buckler, when struck, completely repels the force of the enemy's attack back at them. The harder one hits this shield, the more they will be pushed back.

Seven League Boots: A simple spell that enchants the caster's legs, placing small wings on their footwear that allow them to make seven full steps in the blink of an eye. Fairly useless in most battles, clever timing and usage of this spell can make or break a crucial battle.

Explosion Array: This spell launches a wide spray of non-elemental magic missiles that erupt upon contact. The spell has to be aimed with his hands and cannot be used if his hands are bound or occupied.

Haze Rhetoric: A simple screen of powdery dust that renders magic null and void. The dust is composed of an alchemic compound made from Yggdrasil bark; it devours the magical & spiritual energy exerted against it.

Restore: A powerful healing spell which draws energy from surrounding life-forms and reroutes it into an ailing ally. Depending on the life forms nearby, this spell can potentially heal large wounds and possibly revive a fallen ally from near-death. This spell has no incantation, but requires a lengthy casting time.

White Wind: Another healing spell which utilizes the wind to constantly repair small wounds; a gradual regeneration technique. Only worthwhile for dealing with minimal damage.

Frigid Damsel: One of the few attack spells Rin possesses, he conjures up a small ice sprite which attacks the opponent with a scythe of ice.

Crystal Planet: A wide-area spell which causes enormous crystals to emerge out of the ground. The silvery crystals reflect magic randomly, making it difficult to aim spells. Likewise, they cast millions of reflections, making aiming an attack nearly impossible. There is no invocation phrase, but the spell takes nearly five whole minutes to fully cast.

Leypoint Muse: A wide-area healing spell which draws it's energy directly from the spiritual leylines of the planet, fueling a constant stream of healing energy spewing up from the ground like a geyser. Anyone standing within the 'life fountain' receives instant recovery. Like any water source, this stream can be diverted at its source and can also be utilize to power his allies' attack spells as well. Invocation: "Breathe life, you are not alone! Leypoint Muse!"

Maleficent Shade: The caster creates an enormous magic circle along the ground. Standing at the center, anything caught within the ward assumes the properties of the Undead, virtually becoming undead. Thus, healing spells will deal damage.

Soul Evoke: Possibly one of Rin's most dominating spells, he touches the enemy and places a highly potent regenerative hex on them which speeds up their metabolism and amplifies the effects of healing spells. Then, by pumping healing spells into the opponent, he can literally force his opponents to 'heal themselves' to death, forcing their body's natural regeneration to overcompensate until the point of neurological break-down and in worse cases, full collapse of the central nervous system. This spell earned Rin the nickname of Soul Evoker. Invocation: "So turn the wheels of fate, and open the River of Life's dam to flood my enemies! Soul Evoke"

Dannon Rail: Similar to the Soul Evoke, Rin speeds up the metabolism of his opponent and forces their cells to reproduce at an alarming rate. Rin casts a magic circle beneath his opponent. Those caught within the spell will suffer a condition similar to accelerated cancer, their bodies decomposing into writhing piles of black flesh. Rin rarely uses this spell, as it takes a bit of time to cast and also requires the enemy to remain stationary through the entire duration of the cast. To avoid this spell, an enemy needs only step away from the magic circle.

Layer Wall: A square barrier that is actually several barriers layered on top of each other, creating a movable 'buckler' or 'shield' that the caster can physically touch and control. The ward can be fixed to a particular area of the body or simply 'hang' in mid-air until the spell fizzles out.

Doublecast Spell: A technique using clever ventriloquism to cast two spells at once, utilizing concentration. Two spells are launched at the same time, often confounding the enemy.

Chaincast Spell: By using an ancient technique of energy storing, concentrating spiritual energy into his hands, arms, legs, or any given point on his body, Rin is able to 'pocket' energy for spells (eight spells are his limit) and keep them at the ready on a moment's notice. Then, by throwing his voice he uses Doublecast twice, simultaneously. Then, telepathically projecting his voice, he repeats the process, firing two more spells, and the he alternates between ventriloquism and telepathic Doublecasts until his Eightfold energy is spent (eight consecutive spells all fired in sequence). Frighteningly enough, Rin can regenerate spiritual energy surprisingly fast and can use Chaincast several times before having to rest.

Basic Teleportation: A spell that allows him to teleport, takes a few seconds to cast.

Slumber: A rudimentary sleep spell.

Contract: A spiritual three-year (minimum) contract made between Rin and his summoned creatures which bind a mutual agreement that, in order for servitude, Rin must supply them with certain desires (Food, money, etc.). Realistically, Rin can make a contract with any being as long as they are willing. While under contract, a summoned creature must follow Rin's orders or the contract can be annulled and the creature destroyed.

Summon Gigas: Summons a gigantic golem made of living stone. This beast's origins are unknown, but it possesses limited intelligence and phenomenal physical strength. It stands twenty feet tall and has oversized arms and small legs, thus limiting mobility on its feet. He allowed himself to be bound to Rin in order to face stronger opponents.

Summon Aasterinian: Summons Aasterinian, the messenger of the Dragon God Io (also called Nidhogg). She is a majestic golden scaled dragon with stunning purple eyes. Though physically smaller than most ancient dragons in her pantheon, she is revered as one of the most lethal due to her cunning and maneuverability in-flight. She has a quick tongue, enjoys bouts of sarcasm, and isn't beyond taking human form to get what she desires. She bound herself to Rin in order to shirk her responsibilities a little and loaf around in the human realms. She is a free spirit and generally does not take life seriously, having been alive for so very long. Her human form is that of a radiantly beautiful young girl with blonde hair ('Ester').

Summon Fenrir: Summons the Fenris Wolf and the ice-attributed powers at his command. This five-foot tall black wolf entered contract with Rin in order to secure decent meals—Rin feeds unpure souls and evil opponents to the Fenris Wolf. Fenrir does not have a fondness for taking human form but he does have one, that of a cloaked traveler. He is often the source of sagely knowledge for Rin and does not get along with either Ester (Aasterinian) or Targa (Leviathan), yet somehow tolerates the childish antics of Nai.

Summon Leviathan: Summons the Apocalypse Serpent, Leviathan. The eternal queen of the seas, Leviathan was incarnated in Rin's constant companion, 'Targa' Sinclair. She can only be summoned when Targa is put to sleep through either natural or magical means. Leviathan only entered contract with Rin in order for her human vessel's protection, which meant her protection as well. She uses water, lightning, and even ice-based attacks like Fenrir.

Summon Behemoth: Summons the Apocalypse Beast, Behemoth. Closely resembling an enormous squatty armored sauropod, this discus-shaped monster has short, thick, muscular legs, a mace-like tail and thorny horns surrounding its face. Altogether, this beast spans the size of two football stadiums put together. Within this beast is an alternate dimension which leads to the Infinite Desert Dundayin, where Rin usually resides when not touring realms. In essence, the Behemoth serves as a means of transport and Rin can usually be seen standing atop Behemoth's back, issuing commands or casting spells. Behemoth joined with Rin in order to keep any eye on Leviathan, whom he has a close rivalry with. He is the only beast serving Rin out of personal desire and does not have a contract.

Summon Succubus: Summons a winged succubus. Named Nai Aes Etol, this succubus is an alluring woman with pale lavender skin, pink eyes, and silken white hair. Her wings' color reflects her mood. She can also alter her size, growing as large as a tall building or as small as a housefly. She is the most conniving of Rin's summons and due to similarities in their personalities (michevious women), she gets along easily with Ester. The two conspire together—often playing match-maker with Rin, despite his disinterest in personal relationships. Her reason for entering contract was of a selfish nature; she wanted to find a man capable of handling her sex-drive.

Summon Inugami: Summon Inugami, The Demon Inuzuka. Prone to remaining in his true form, Inuzuka is a huge, muscular snow-white Akita hound wearing various bells, whistles, and golden bands around each leg. He is constantly enshrouded in white smoke. In human form he is a brawny-looking man wearing simple robes and shaggy, unkempt white hair with a bit of coarse stubble. He is enormous and powerful, and typically the keeper/wielder of Rin's sword. He serves as a constant body-guard and a skilled melee fighter, not to mention a noble and loyal ally to have at one's side. Although silent by nature, he is often seen advising Rin from time to time. His main attribute is his grotesque physical strength, capable of easily overpowering foes. He doesn't have a reason for traveling with Rin. He just began following Rin and hasn't stopped until this very day.

Embarrassing Facts: Rin suffers from acute gynophobia and panics whenever physically touched or held by a member of the opposite sex, lending to the popular belief that Rin himself may be homosexual.

Rin is a virgin, having never once experienced feelings of a sexual nature in his entire life.

Rin is actually left handed, although he wields a sword in his right. Likewise, Rin can only utilize a sword and is virtually helpless in melee combat without one, as he is a physically frail person.

Rin is color-blind in one eye: his right one.

Rin suffers a severe paranoia of things being taken from him (such as kidnappings and thefts) and therefore rarely sleeps. When he does, he typically always erects some sort of barrier around himself while he rests. Generally, he only ever sleeps about two hours, tops, explaining his sullen, pale expression.

Rin is painstakingly meticulous about things being neat and tidy, and loathes germs and contamination.

Rin has merinthophobia, a deeply rooted fear of being bound or tied up. If chained or restrained in such a manner, Rin will simply panic until he faints or vomits.

Contrary to popular belief, Rin is not morally or ethically bankrupt. Rin's 'cruelty' or harsh nature (shown in his ability to kill his first mentor, Belvedere, and later his past-self without a second thought) stems from a childlike lack of conscience. Being that his sense of right and wrong never fully developed, Rin sees nothing wrong with killing others and views it as something along the lines of either 'mercy' or 'evolution'.

Rin harbors no known sense of regret and it assumed that he does not understand the concept of remorse. Likewise, whether or not he uses his powers for another's benefit appear to be decided at random, as all of the charitable acts in his life have been solely upon a passing whim.
