Specifically, it decided the replacement power supply wasn't strong enough after all. Which means I'm computerless again. The "official" replacement part is due in tomorrow, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to have it installed. I'll miss you all until then!

Posted: Tue Oct 28, 2008 12:17 amAre you plugging your power cable into a surge protector? The one time I didn't use a surge protector was the only computer whose power supply (along with the HD and motherboard) decided to fry. I think it was the central air unit (or whatever it's called) turning on, since the lights dim/flicker momentarily when it does.

Posted: Tue Oct 28, 2008 11:18 pmWell, I would have written a departure post, but I wasn't able to. My laptop's hard drive has started making funny noises, and I wanted to make sure that I wouldn't kill it or anything before I got my new computer set up.
Now the point is moot. My new computer is online and more than capable. I ran a video benchmark test on it and it did better than my friend's computer, which he uses as a server and for high powered gaming.
Boo Yah! The Stud is back in business!

Sooo...my hard drive went all funny-like and then died. I have my files backed up, but it's gonna be a few weeks until my actual laptop gets back together.
...But luckily, I live five minutes away from a 24/7 free computer lab on campus, so I should still be able to keep up with things--I might just be slightly more irregular with my posts for a bit. ^^
