Welll... I just got finished ordering parts for my new desktop!
Over the next week, or two they will begin arriving... and I shall create my own custom beast! *evil laughter*
Oh, and I think I'll have to peek out this Black Friday and see if I cant get a good deal on a nice monitor...
But the good news is... the end of my computer-less torture is in sight!

More more updates!
The parts for my computer have arrived! Huzzah!
Now all I need to do is put them together... I have a spare monitor, keyboard, and speakers I will use. But they are on the suck scale of things. But that is not to worry! Because black friday is tommorrow! And I will go shopping for the last pieces!
But before the end of this day I should have my new desktop assembled... Huzzah!

Ookay, so it took a bit longer than anticipated... but who cares?!
I am coming to you live from my brand-sparkly-new desktop computer! Its mine... all MINE! Muahahahahaaa!!
And I got an eye-popping HD 22 inch screen... for about 1/2 the normal sale price. Life is good. Life is very good...
So ends the crisis of the laptop... but do not mourn its passing, for its heart lives on. Literally.
I was able to take my hard drive out of my laptop and install it into my desktop. I also installed a secondary hard drive with a bit more space... so now I have two.
But my original hard drive, complete with operating system and everything, worked perfectly on the first power-on. It was a thing of beauty... truely.

Actually, I think the heart of the computer is the motherboard. It's either the heart or the nervous system. I can never remember which. The hard drive would be more like the main memory part of the brain.

Welcome back! Do you know computers? If so, can you help me re-configure my internet? It conked out while I was away, and the service provider insists they can't help me because I'm no longer running Windows (a few weeks ago, my computer repairman friend talked me into switching to Linux). And I can't get a hold of said friend. It's driving me crazy. Can someone here help? Heck, I'll give you my phone number if need be, to talk me through it!

Linux is an Operating System (OS), not an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
I suggest going back to whatever OS you had going before. Maybe XP. Yeah, go with XP. Or even Vista, if you must.

I already use Firefox. Linux doesn't support IE, after all. That's a Microsoft-only browser. I managed to get hold of my tech-savvy friend last night, and he talked me through the stuff I needed to get it fixed and running again. I may switch back to Windows all the same, though. I miss Photoshop. Besides, I feel faintly dissonant with Linux; I'm not adapting as easily as I hoped to. Everyone says it's so simple, but I just don't get it.

Well that stinks...
In other words, I have decided to make this the official "why I fail to appear" thread! XD
For the past week, I have been run ragged by a work schedule that seems to change every single day. People calling out(and me being called in), my car being in the shop, me having to drive my dad to work at 6:30 in the morning...
It ended up with every day me feeling like I had been thrown into a flour mill and ground into a fine powder.
This hopefully will end soon... and I can get back to posting. But right now I just dont have the energy to whip my muse into turning out the sort of high quality posts you have come to expect.

My wireless card has given up the ghost... effectively cutting out my heart.
I am without internet... sorrow...
And will be haunting my father's computer until I can clean out the room adjacent to the router... then haul my desk and desktop back there to be connected via cable...
