Silently acknowledge? That's just silly. A cat might do that, but nekkid people don't. We know more than one way to skin a cat and leave them exposed. 
I'll try to remember when your birthday is. I don't care for my birthday being brought up either, so sometimes I preempt it, but if someone else brings up my birthday then I'll take you down with me when it's your birthday next year. Or something.

Someone tried that already. I think they're referred to as "Sphinx" cats.
