Biggest. Facepalm Moment. EVER

So... I recently got a desire to toy around with my USB game controller. However, since I got a new computer, I haven't installed the thing yet. I looked around, trying to find the install disk for it, but couldn't find it. I looked in several places... in some drawers, through my other CDs, under my bed, in some more drawers... I did everything a few times, but I still couldn't find it.
I was sure I had it somewhere, and so I kept looking for the last two... three days or so. I wracked my brain trying to figure it out, because I was certain it was somewhere, and it bugged the snot out of me. One of those 'never find when you're looking' type of things.
As it turns out... I didn't need a disk at all. I probably didn't even HAVE a disk for it. All I needed to do was plug in the controller and it'd work. I figured this out just a few moments ago, and I actually facepalmed upon figuring that out. All this time searching for a dang disk that I probably didn't even have...
Oi... that's all I can say, oi.
*Puts on a dunce cap and sits on a stool in the corner*

I'm guessing that your computer already came with something that would recognize the controller. That's what my new computer did, so I didn't have to use the installation disc.

Most likely, but now I'm not even sure the controller came with a disk in the first place. Almost as if I did all of that searching for nothing. XD

I had a similar situation when I upgraded to Windows 7 with my wireless adapter.
I spent ages trying to find Vista drivers for it and couldn't find anything other than the fact my card was too old to be used. Out of curiosity, I decided to put it in anyway just to see what would happen and Windows installed drivers its for it and it works perfectly, kinda wish the internet had told me it would do that though.

Yeah, I left out the part where I bought a Vista compatible network card just in case I couldn't get my current one to work, only to have to send it back anyway.
Ah well, I got a refund anyway!

Isn't that great ? Plugging something and it just works.
Ten years ago,
plugging a simple USB scanner was science fiction.

I remember the old dog days of DOS.
Oh boy let me tell you, you had to do some freaky stuff to get things to work.* @_@;
*Like read a manual, install a disk driver, or give your soul to a god.

Internet = more interesting than television.
