Damn the "TGTF games" site!

I think I stopped posting on MSF because, well, seeing all the old threads kind of reminds me of things I'd rather not read again. If I could, I'd probably have all of my old posts deleted but keep my post count to show I've been around. In general, it's quite dusty in here.

Anyways. Time for classic Nina/Akemi rage. If anyone has issues with naughty language, well, tough. I need it out of my system, and somewhere it can be publicly read.

I've f***ing had it with the TGTF game site. People have often wondered aloud why, back when MSF was a lot busier, we were so insistent on keeping everything "PG-13". That site is why. It's ground zero for a lot of porn. And I mean a LOT of porn. In fact, nowadays, it's almost more about porn and mind control fantasies than it is about actually exploring transformation as a theme. I mean, part of why I stopped posting at MSF was because it was becoming more about a bunch of kids jumping around posting random nonsense like they need intravenous injections of ritalin, but at least there was a persisting theme! At least the site never lost its community identity!

Anyways. I'm really sick of those cum-jockeys and what they did to a site that was previously for all sorts of TF fans. Now, it's all well and good to just bitch about them openly like I'm doing, but anybody else with me on picking up the flag somehow and showing them how a respectable TG/TF and game-enjoying community is run? That seems to be the best way to "protest", instead of just making noise like I'm doing right now (and, admittedly, like I've frequently done in the past). Everybody wins if they have a place to post their games without having stolen pin-up models shoved in their face with every reply in the topic.

I actually don't know that site. Well, no reason to go there, now. ;p

Anyway, MSF has some of that, just not in any real adult way. A shame, but eh. (Not about there not being adult stuff, of course. ;/) At this point I think it's to be expected. I'm not against whatever kinks someone has, mind you: I'm more irked about the tendency to go after what you want without much consideration, if any, about how others also have needs. So much, "gimme, gimme, gimme," and, "oh, I would do something to help you out with what you want, but I'm not into that stuff/in the mood."

In the end, what kind of example should we show, when our sites are different beasts? If that site was supposed to be like MSF, but did that, then I'd see some merit in taking the necessary actions in setting an example. And, as it stands, MSF needs to worry more about itself than some other site, considering its current condition.

I'd never heard of that site, despite the fact that I'm working on a TGTF game. I missed a memo I guess. I checked out their site briefly, but I didn't care much for it.

Anyways, the latest progress report on my game (Which I will never finish) is that I added in all sorts of color words for randomly describing things. 220 awesome colour names, to be precise. How awesome? Think "zebra grey" awesome.

Well, I think it's awesome at least >.>

Actually, I have nothing against kinks at all. In fact, one reason I left was that I was probably considerably darker or kinkier than most. (though I'm not blaming the community -- not their fault I lacked the social graces to communicate it effectively)

But yeah, it does bother the hell out of me that every time I try to voice my concern over the overflow of explicit content, I basically get told to sit down and shut up and that I'm the minority. In truth, I don't think I am -- it's just the overflow of perverts drove everyone else out.

I think MSF already sets a good example by letting everyone represent themselves or their interests while not forcing it down the throats of other people. A very nice balance, and I didn't even appreciate it until I was already gone.

I think Avenue Q summed it up nicely.

It's that wonderful idea of freedom of speech writ anonymous. Heaven forbid you try and prohibit something, especially porn, on the internet~! Its a place of anonymity, so porn can be ok!

Iunno, the PG-13 battle over the years at MSF has been tricky, only really "understood" by those fighting for it (evil mods :o) and always hated by those it "restricted." I'm just glad we've managed to stay nice and close to it over the years. Roleplaying is much more fun and satisfying barring a constant stream of porn.

Now don't get me wrong, I've nothing against porn. I've brushed my teeth a few times in my day, to borrow your wonderful phrase Akemi (or was it Jei's? I cant remember, I feel that it was yours). But I'm a firm believer in things going in their proper place. How that applies to the TGTF games site (which I checked out...my my), eh, maybe the "place" needs some sprucing down, to go with its content.

So, is this a welcome back message?

Yep, I'm the one who came up with "brushing one's teeth". In retrospect, I could have used a ton of other metaphors, it's not like there is a shortage of them.

And there is no question that a lot of us here have fetishes, and we indulge them. We might even create stuff for that end. I can sort of understand where the Pornateers are coming from about "let's remove the pretense", but you're absolutely right -- the pretense are what make interesting roleplay possible, and prevent the whole thing from sort of congealing into a single point.

Xia, I strongly apologize for any of the bullschnapple I gave you in the past. Just so you know. I do think MSF's mod culture was way out of control, but back then a lot of us were, especially myself.

You were the only one taking the bullschnapple seriously, so don't worry. I started my sojourn on the internet amongst Counter-Strike players (and before that, Half-Life, etc etc, but it gets its start with CS), who are, without a doubt, the worst idiots imaginable on the internet. I haven't taken anything said towards me seriously on the internet in a long time. and I certainly didn't take it personally. You had a lot of fire in you (and I don't doubt you still do) and it can be hard channeling fire sometimes. Like you said, effective communication. Boy is that a loaded term.

Besides, if I had taken it seriously or personally, you'd not be posting today, ne? ^__~

The journey is more important than the ending in roleplay, especially if the ending is as simple as what porn can be.

Which helps because so few roleplays actually end. :P

I'd say by nature I'm kind of a visionary, which lends itself well to frustration. Seeing how things "could" be makes how things "are" often seem unbearable. It doesn't help that I've always been kind of an armchair visionary who doesn't do enough to lead by example. Anyways, if you're wondering where all that fire comes from, it has a lot to do with that. I always got frustrated with MSF and MSFers because I kept envisioning a much healthier* community where people create and share lots of original artwork and stories and even stuff like RPGmaker games. I always looked at Mashiro's Castle with some degree of envy.

Thing is, again, for all my loudness I wasn't really willing to lead by example. It's been six years and I'm still not really over my major creative blocks. Nonetheless, if I wanted to see change I probably should have arranged for things to be done that'd bring about change. For example, if I wanted people to start drawing or sketching more, I should have suggested something like an oekaki board for people to post on. And if I was that jealous of Mashiro, I should have convinced people to form a Japanese language study group so we could actually meet and talk to those people and share notes. Instead, all I did was just yell at the administrators to start updating the site without actually proactively encouraging the community create content they could update with. A bit of honey would have worked better than vinegar.

And hell, I'm still doing it. I kinda want to make a game of some sort to lead us off here, but I have that usual problem of staring at a blank sheet and feeling the crushing void.

... (sorry for b****ing in general, but I thought maybe it would help if I explained where my past fire came from)

* I know that might be a point of contention with some, but I mostly refer to everyone's mental and emotional health.

Well, just so long as you're not upset with yourself, or, in the case that you are, don't stay that way. It won't really get you anywhere. Which I've only been figuring out recently, personally.

I am, a bit, because I feel like I blew a lot of opportunities. But yeah, now that you mention it, I'm the one who's always told you to lay off yourself.

What can I say? I'm a world-class idiot. Then, again, I don't really like myself, anyway. But, occasionally, I can stop being self-centered and focus on other things. I was thinking that it was about time for me to dole out some "well"-written transformations.

Anyway, so long as you've got tomorrow, who cares what you missed yesterday, right? So long as you think to see what's coming, you're bound to catch something, eventually. Even someone like myself can do that.

True. And speaking of world class idiots, I think I was one and would have probably botched things up horribly even if I did more right stuff.

Incidentally, I like your captions Nikkou. Since you don't alter the image, but instead place it separately from the text, it doesn't feel like a misuse of it. You also cover a lot of topics that really tickle my interest (the less sappy ones, anyway). Shame your site doesn't have a search feature based on tags, or there isn't a second-person tag.

If I wanted anyone to help me write some fun stuff, it'd be you.

Hey, it's my job to say that kind of stuff about themselves. Get offa my turf! :P

I'd feel better if I could make my own images, but at least it's still on the horizon... (I'm still playing around with Gimp, to get a feel for it and how to use it adequately enough). I've always felt bad for using others' works, but my drive for expressing ideas always gets the better of me. Well, when I can actually motivate myself, anyway. Not that I think anything of my captions, aside from a few that hold sentimental value.

If I knew how to make a search with tags, I'd do it. At the very least I can get around to adding perspective tags, though.

Me? Fun stuff? You must have been out to sea, all this time.
