Daaaaaaaaang guuuuys. :O

Don't take what Ninian is saying as a personal attack. She's not saying you aren't capable of serious creativity, or that enjoying the Muffin Room is bad. And there's nothing wrong with her dislike of it. Different strokes for different folks, you know?

The original intention of the Muffin Room, as I recall way back in ye olden days, was for random silliness. However, not of the RP variety. There was no world, or rules, colors, council, nothin'. It evolved over time into what it is today, a large part of which is still silliness. Which is totally fine. However, it can be difficult for people to participate in it. Now people need to research about things like colors and the various locations, and it also goes at a pace of a million miles a second. If I post something and leave for a day, then come back, it's gone like WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH and I'm left lightyears behind.

It's currently the most popular forum. So it's possible that new people browsing the forums may notice this, will go look at it and go "Whaaat? I don't get it." and then leave.

Considering how much of a "world" the Muffin Room has become, I think it wouldn't hurt to really change it to Muffinville, and describe that forum as the place where the "citizens of MSF" live. It kind of reminds me of an MMO, but in text, you know? (EDIT: lol you beat me to it. Muffinverse!)

Aaaaanyway, I think the idea that people are trying to get across is this: The Muffiny-ness is fine. Have fun, be silly. But MSF has lost some of its creative focus and power over the years. We used to get A LOT of content put out back in the day. In comparison, there's barely a trickle of it now, beyond RPs. So let's think up ways to get the creative juices flowing again.

OR MAYBE I'M WRONG I DUNNO I'M GOING TO BED :O

The point is now kinda moot, actually. Aura (Moonlit Naiad) started up a site with a similar overall intention to MSF. PG-13 TG/TF, but largely focused towards the creating and sharing of content. It was just born today, we'd been bandying about doing this for ages, but now seems a good time to put it out there. Pixie Wink. And forums. Not much up yet, but I love the basic premise: a new TGTF game site (and other art) without porn. I think I'll probably start posting there in addition to here. I know some of the non-porn focused TGTF site veterans who have basically been gnashing their teeth at the direction that site went in will welcome Pixie Wink. Aura has the credentials too: She's known as Maelyn on TGTF games and is one of the more well respected game creators (Escape, John's Escape, and several other games on Hoshizora), so they'll probably take her call to split off seriously.

To be honest, those who said I should start creating some stuff in order to not convey a sense "Do as I say and not as I do" have a point, and I think I'll probably get started on a small project myself. It'll also be kind of nice to be able to post it on a site without, well, a personal history attached to it. I'll probably post a link to the end product on MSF too, though.

Well, I'm a bit late to say this, but I figure I should say it, anyway. The difference between what Nina expects, and what the (now) Muffinverse currently does, are completely different. Yes, the content in the Muffinverse is ephemeral; and, yes, it's not accessible to just anyone. However, more importantly, the content in the Muffinverse isn't created as a part of a showcase, but only for those participating. That's the difference. If you wrote a story, and put it up on the site, it's going to be there for anyone, no fuss and no muss. If you write anything in Muffinverse, you're only going to attract a very small portion of the total amount of people who browse the forums, because it would only be for those that are already involved, know their way around, or can keep up with the amount of activity well enough to catch it.

It's not a matter of creativity, or even preference: it ultimately comes down to who you make the content available to. Basically, what you do in Muffinverse is for yourselves, and/or a few other people, not so much for MSF (if at all). Is that bad? No: it's a part of what keeps some people happy and entertained enough to stick around. However, if that's all that's going on, then, from the perspective of the site itself, it's no better than being barnacle, sticking around for the sake of sticking around. If more than that was done, I'm sure that the ship (the site, of course) would appreciate it, knowing that its hull was a host to things that were actually helping to propel it forward.

I've said about as much before, but... You know how it is. Some things just need to be repeated but worded differently.

Oh, and Nina? I felt that I should make you aware of argument from fallacy. Especially since this is not a formal debate, and the same rules of such do not (wholly) apply. Either way, rather than label something as a fallacy, it's better to illustrate with logic what is wrong with their argument, and neutralizing it properly, if you feel it's worth your time. Well, from my experience, anyway... Debating will be the end of me. ;/

Right--if truly this discussion needs to be continued at this point, please do feel free to make a new topic. ^^ In the meantime though, this one seems to have run its course, and I'm locking it, as already suggested.
