I can't remember where I heard it, or from who, but someone on TV once brought up the subject of how our culture seems to be falling into a trend involving sex versus intelligence. For instance, sitcoms where men are usually portrayed as the idiots while the women are usually more sensible and counter to their antics. On the other hand, I also once heard someone say that there might be something to the idea that male comedians have some kind of edge, with their impact on an audience, that women don't have, whether it's due to culture or not. And then there was this whole thing with Sarah Palin, where she might have been as dumb as George Bush (if not dumber; or, at least, I think he knew that Africa was a continent), yet still drew more interest than those still supporting Bush after seven years in office.
So, what I'm wondering, is if anyone sees anything in this. While I'm sure that some here would be happy that females are being viewed in a more positive light, I wonder if it's not just for taking advantage of some convenience. Or, perhaps, it's in response to the fear of being labeled as sexist. Or a combination of things.
