A short while later, a small scroll unrolls itself floating in midair where Raleigh can read it.
"The Author was hoping you'd be curious enough to follow her. Also, 'her'. You can decide not to though, I guess.

Hm.. well I suppose I might as well. Ambush, want to tag along? *Turns to where the suit went and begins to look for it. Given his eyesight is perfect even in absolute darkness it shouldn't be too hard to spot this early into the evening.*

*voice is heard through a fire hydrant* You go ahead, I'll catch up. I'm having too much fun here!

Not very long after going in roughly the direction of the power-suited individual Raleigh's perfect eyesight probably finds something else of note: An entire sksycraper is on fire. This appears to have been their destination, as the suit is a couple of yards off from the top of said building, spraying fire extinguisher from the hand at the fire...but only briefly, as instead of extinguishing said fire it appears to have increased its intensity.

Interesting. *Disappears in a burst of flames and appears in the flames of the burning building.* So what is going on here I wonder. *Looks around to see what is in the building before addressing the armor.*

It strongly resembles an ordinary office building that recently caught fire--one might even say that it is one of those. The fire itself seems unusually intense and high in temperature despite looking visually like a normal fire, so Raleigh's body inside of the fire may suffer some damage if he wasn't expecting that. It's not immediately obvious why this fire is so hot, though, or why it seemed to just casually use fire extinguisher material as fuel a moment ago...

*A red gem appears next to Raleigh and suddenly the fire no longer harms him and he can safely ignore the heat.* Reminds me of when I spent a hundred years in the plane of fire collecting the purest flames together. I suppose I'll start by scanning the fire itself to see what is going on and then progressing to check if it is what is burning that is causing this. *Snatches some of the flames up in his hand and looks into it intently reading its energy levels and composition.*

The fire--well it's a chemical reaction of course, and in this case the burning material is parts of a desk. It's outputting more energy (in the form of mundane heat) than seems to have been in the burning material before turning to ash. It doesn't seem like there's any magical energy at work here, or if there is it's not acting in a detectable way. Actually, on closer inspection there is almost no water vapor or carbon dioxide in the air inside of the building, the latter being much stranger perhaps.

Outside, the person in the suit uses a suit-hand-mounted tractor beam to pick up a chunk of burning concrete from the top of the building, pull it a little closer, and run a few scans while spraying a small amount of water and then liquid nitrogen at it, both of which have little to no appreciable effect. A girl's voice with a robotic echo from inside the suit says, "...That doesn't make any sense. It's like someone reading a chemistry book backwards."

*Seals the sample of flame away and then looks to get outside the building.* This is almost as odd as that one winter where the flames froze. Not wizard fire or bale fire it seems.

There are windows around...actually, a big pane windows near Raleigh's position seems to have been broken through already in someone's desperate attempt to escape the flames at some earlier stage of their development.

Outside, the werewolf-like armor's ears fold back in a reflection of the wearer's emotional state after trying a few more things on her own sample. "I clearly don't know enough yet--this is still outside my area of expertise. The building's already lost, my best bet is probably containment."

*Just before going out, Raleigh takes a breath to test the oxygen levels in the room. Might as well check if the fire is completely acting oddly and producing oxygen too.* I can seal it if it comes to that.

It seems like there is lot of oxygen in the air, which probably accounts for where the oxygen in the missing CO2 and water went, if not for why it went there.

Hm... curiouser and curiouser. *Floats out the window to the armored figure.* So what did you find out?
