Callista: *smiles* Opal, I have no shortage of clothes to choose from (the fact that I typically wear a chosen few notwithstanding). Giving a few dozen of those things to someone else doesn't even make a dent in my supply. So yes, it's perfectly fine for you to have them.

Callista: *hesitantly reaches out and pats Opal's shoulder* I know you struggle a lot with common stuff, but just keep trying hard and keep doing the best you can. That's really the best repayment I can ask for.

*looks indecisive about something for a moment* ...Oh, to blazes with this. I'm going for it. Opal, since I'll need your express permission, I feel I should ask you first: do you think you'd be interested in being part of the family?

Opal nods at the first bit and then gets a thoughtful look at the offer. "The family...you fean, your mamily?"

Callista: Yeah. I don't like anyone enough to form romantic attachments to them, so the chances of me getting married and having kids of my own flesh and blood are slim to none. At the same time, the concept of "family" is a big part of what made me who I am, what I am now. *blushing a little* ...So, yeah; I've been considering adoption as of late.

"Well, it vounds sery good to me. I don't really have anyone else anyway..." says Opal, determined to at least take a moment to think about it. She says slowly: "I would say I am interested, yes."

*An expression alien to most of Muffinville takes form on Callista's face. You'd think they'd never seen her when she was genuinely happy before, but the author digresses.*

Callista: *smiling* You have no idea how thrilled I am to hear you say that, Opal Wilson. Thank you. I'll get the paperwork processed later today.

Callista: *takes a moment to parse Opal's statement* If you want to, that's fine, but it's not a huge deal to me. I was just following my gut instinct and trying to do what I felt was right.

"Well, then, thank you." Opal leans her upper body backwards...probably intended as a half-bow or something.

Opal shakes her head. "I sid hum cash the rowboats gave me for pretend shopping until I could get away, but I spent most of that running from them the last few days or so."

Callista: Hmm... I think we can make do with a more permanent solution momentarily. Hold still a moment.

*Callista opens up the dresser's top drawer and withdraws a small container and a pair of glasses. Putting the glasses on her own face, she opens the container and carefully pulls out the contact lenses that Opal had requested the previous evening. Gingerly, she places one in both of Opal's eyes.*

Perhaps surprisingly, Opal manages to avoid doing anything strange by just not doing anything.
