She takes the orb, a little curious how exactly this form of gaining a move works.

Catgirl: Crush it and learn the move. Not entirely unlike how a TM or HM works really.

*Dirge lets herself be pulled in and as she gets near her wings transform into razor edged blades that slash at Zapana's arms.*

*Zapana does a quick estimation of the wings' sharpness and decides to tank the hits. The effect... is sort of like a tennis ball hitting a sandbag, as the blades catch harmlessly on her arms.*

Consider us... *attempts to deliver a mammoth headbutt to Dirge's cranium* ...even!

"Ooh-kay, thanks." Whyte does so, and at the same time looks to see what move the house is putting up next. Hyper beam, after all, is still normal type.

*Turns her head so her horns are in the way of the headbutt with some of her energy going to reinforce them.*

*The next prize on the table is Psyshock.*

"Well, that'd help in a few cases..." Whyte goes for this one, betting even and risking Tackle once more.

(Quite alright.) *This time the ball lands on 7 red.* Catgirl: Sorry my dear. *An orb floats out of Whyte and into the roulette table.*

Whyte just nods. "Does taking a TM move make it so a person can't re-learn the move from another TM?" she asks curiously while waiting to see the next prize and decide whether it's worth another risk.

*Turns her head so her horns are in the way of the headbutt with some of her energy going to reinforce them.*

*On the one hand, Zapana's headbutt is successfully blocked. On the other hand, the horns aren't quite enough to pierce her skin. With that avenue of attack foiled, Zapana---still holding on to Dirge's tail---pivots and twists sharply, trying to exert enough force to lift Dirge off her feet.*

Catgirl: Ah, in case you want two hyperbeams with their own power point limitation for example? Or do you mean in case you chose to bet or forget the move and then attempt to relearn it again? In the case of the second our thing may function like a tm but doesn't have the usual restrictions. As for the first... I don't see why it wouldn't work. Smeargles have multiple versions of sketch after all.
*The next prize up is transform.*

*Dirge is picked up and in the air now from her tail being yanked.* Soul Fist. *She punches out at Zapana and fires off a small energy blast at her even as she is yanked into the air.*

*The Soul Fist hits Zapana squarely in the head. This time, the attack looks to have done some damage; Zapana staggers off-balance for a moment, her ears ringing. It's not enough to make her let go, though, and after a moment she slings Dirge over her head and tries to slam her into the ground head-first.*

Whyte makes a bit of a face at the idea of using transform...it wouldn't be wise to try and mess with her appearance given the curse and all anyway, even if the idea of this move didn't gross her out a bit to begin with. She stays out of this one.

((Basically the point of her question was "can I risk and lose Protect, walk out of here, use a TM to re-learn Protect, and come back and risk Protect again". The kind of thing a rules lawyer would wonder about, maybe.))
