"No way, nothin's too expensive for gettin' to go out with a cute girl," says Gina enthusiastically. "But uh, yeah, like, this place ain't too expensive, either, which's another reason I like it here." She leans over to one side and reaches around with her other hand, eventually managing to produce a wallet from hammerspace. "There we go." She pulls out some cash and then stares at the ticket for several seconds, visibly taking on some mental strain as she attempts to calculate the right tip.

*A woman in blue robes looks up from where she was minding her own business, finishing the last traces of her own meal.*

Excuse me, child. Are you trying to calculate a 15% tip?

Natsuki fidgets and blushes over being called cute. She's used to be called that by her adoring fans but its different when Gina says it.

"Wh--no! Yes," Gina says to the woman in blue, flustered. "Actually seventeen percent, which is way harder. Man, I really hate math."

*shrug* I failed algebra as a kid, so I completely understand. Anyway, here's something that might work out for you.

#1: Start by getting 10% of the total cost. It's as easy as moving the decimal one space to the left. If there isn't one, just place one to the left of the last number. I'll demonstrate all this in a moment.

#2: To get 5%, just take half of the 10%. Adding the two numbers brings you up to 15%.

#3: Take the 5% you just got and divide it by 5.

#4: Since you're wanting a 17% tip total, take the result of #3 and double it.

#5: Finally, add #2 and #4 together. That should give you what you want.

Now, here's the demonstration I promised. Watch as I leave my own tip:

STARTING TOTAL: $16.76

#1: 10% of $16.76 is $1.67. Note the decimal positioning.

#2: $1.67 divided by 2 = 0.835, or in this case, 84 cents. Add 1.67 and .84 together, and you get $2.51. That's 15%.

#3: Take the 84 cents and dividing it by 5 gives us 16.8, or rather 17 cents.

#4: 17 times 2, of course, is 34.

#5: Then it's just a matter of adding $2.51 and .34 together to get $2.85.

And there you go.

It'll take practice, but over time it'll become second nature to you.

Natsuki recovered from her dizzy spell, looking at Gina. "Yeah...twenty percent sounds a lot easier." Her nose twitched as she could still smell traces of the sushi she ate on her empty plate. She couldn't help herself and picked up her plate and gave it a lick.

Looking back at Natsuki, the werewolf girl says, "Uhm, so you wanna like, go for a walk? Or, uh, like I could walk you home if you want." Her nervousness seems to have reasserted itself.

Natsuki put the plate down and looked at Gina, she could see the werewolf was nervous, and that made Natsuki feel a bit anxious herself. "W-Well um...a walk would be nice...and afterwards you could walk me home...if you want." She twiddled her thumbs.

*The woman nods in reluctant acceptance, then walks towards the exit. On the way there she vanishes in a small cloud of plastic marbles, leaving no trace of her presence.*

"Y-yeah, cool!" Gina nods. "I, uh, I go out at night a lot so I know some places that won't be too boring to walk through." She comes a little closer to Natsuki and offers the catgirl a hand, her face reddening a bit but returning with some effort to her usual confident grin.

Natsuki takes Gina's hand, her own face reddening as she does. "Let's go then." She tries to sound confident, being the pop singer than she is, but she's a nervous wreck, her heart won't stop beating so quickly!
