Swift: *nods at him* There's that, and it's too easy to send it off course playing like that. I've lost track of how many points I've lost in practice, just because my head turned too quickly. *sips again, smiling at the smoothie's taste*

*In the background, a purple-haired girl with a nifty-looking hat enters the restaurant. She sees Swift and the others, but pays them no mind and gets into line. Probably no one important.*

"Eh, it seems strange to me you like being an actual pokemon rather than humanoid-like, but I was born like I am, so it's no' like I have a real frame of reference to make sense of the situation," says Clyve.
"Yeah, I've been both, but most of why I'm happy with this has to do with it killing the worse parts of my curse," says Whyte.
"Say, you never tol' me much about that, yeh know. Like, why you look the way you do when you use Frustration."
She pointedly just puts more burger in her mouth (there's less than a quarter of it left by now) and doesn't directly answer that.

Swift: Eh... yeah, best to just leave it at that. *sweatdrops briefly, then shakes her head* As for me, my trainer's always emphasized stealth and mobility. Rather difficult for me to do as a human, and by extension so's Feint Attack, so... yeah.

*The smoothie still has a fair amount in it, due in no small part to Swift's desire not to get another brain freeze.*

"Eh, I could stand to learn a thing or two like that. Best I can do usually is tank some hits and try to hit my opponent so hard they can't hit back."
"Well, that is a fairly effective strategy for Mightyena," comments Whyte.
"'Fairly', see?"

*A mild sneeze can be heard from the line, followed shortly by a telepathically uttered "Excuse me".*

Whyte's ears twitch, and she sort of halfway looks at the source of the sneeze, but returns to eating her berries not really any the wiser.
"Aye, well, I have the bulk, but I just can't handle a strong enough fightin' type. Or someone fast enough to dodge an' hit me 's much as I can tank, like Whyte here."

((I tend to just treat pokemon as a single-player game when I play it; in that case the meathead strategy rarely fails.))

Swift: *raises an eyebrow at Clyve, then gives Whyte an appraising look* Hmm... sort of makes me wonder... *sips*

Swift: ...? Hm? *blinks* Oh... sorry about that. *looks down at the table, face a little red* Assuming that I got used to fighting as a human, I was wondering whether I'd be able to take you in a fight.

"Ah, well I can't speculate much on that since I haven't seen you battle much as a pokemon...but I do know a bunch of different kicks, so that'd be something to look out for."
"Yeh, I'm like to develop a fear of the soles of 'er feet at some point," interjects Clyve.

*The woman who'd sneezed earlier sits down in an empty seat behind Swift, carrying a glass of fruit punch and a Watmel Berry snack pie.*

Swift: *slow nod* And that slides the matchup in her favor, then. Unlike Whyte, I'm stuck with the "four-moves-only" restriction. It's possible for a Pokémon back home to have more than those to use, but they're almost as rare as... *another look at Whyte*... well, as those possessing alternate coloring.

"Oh, well in that case it wouldn't be entirely fair if I used every move I know like usual. I'd probably still pick at least one fighting move, though...maybe odor sleuth..." Whyte gets a bit of a distant look as she takes another handful of berries.
"Hah, you've got 'er plannin' out the fight in 'er head already."

"Oh, hey, you a friend o' 'ers?" says Clyve, turning to Shiver.
Meanwhile, Whyte mutters something about having not meant it that way...
