Hello there. Do you remember anything?

"I think I saw that on the menu," she says. Indeed, it looks like every reasonably imaginable option for a burger is up there, along with a note that requests for more unusual toppings are usually honored.

Cool. I think I'll just have a plain cheeseburger to start.

*Ambush looks around nervously for a few moments, then tears off down the road as if something has just spooked him... but what?*

Huh... I wonder what got into him.

"Okay," says the employee, pushing a couple of buttons on the cash register that she isn't exactly sure how she knows about. It 'dings' and displays "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" on the side facing Ookalf instead of a price. She goes and bustles around in the kitchen-like area of the kiosk, before poking her head back out where it's visible from the window again. "Hey, uh, how do you want the meat done? It's coming up on rare already."

"Okay," says the employee, pushing a couple of buttons on the cash register that she isn't exactly sure how she knows about. It 'dings' and displays "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" on the side facing Ookalf instead of a price. She goes and bustles around in the kitchen-like area of the kiosk, before poking her head back out where it's visible from the window again. "Hey, uh, how do you want the meat done? It's coming up on rare already."

Oh, I think I'll have it medium rare. *Ookalf looks down at the birthday sign on the register.* Hah, cute.

She grumbles "Oui madam. What do you desire?"

"Okay," says the woman, her head disappearing again for a few seconds. And then it reappears. "What'd you call me?" she says, in a somewhat accusatory tone, and then returns her eyes to the burger.

Huh? ...Oh, no! I wasn't calling you cute. I was talking about the machine. Y'know, usually they show a price, but this one just says "Happy Birthday". I just thought that was neat...

"Oh, okay." It takes her evidently just a couple more seconds to assemble the burger and put it out on the kiosk's counter in Ookalf's general direction. "I get the impression you'd better take that and step aside."

OK... *Ookalf takes the burger and steps away from the kiosk.*

*His timing couldn't have been any better, as Callista comes to a screeching halt where he'd been standing just a second before. Immediately, she whips out a wad of cash and slams it down.*

Callista: BURGERS! FOOD! HUNGRY! NOW-NOW-NOW-NOW-NOW-NOW-NOW-NOW-NOW!

The employee leans back slightly from the yelling woman, and says, "Yes, okay, I understand that--do you have a specific order off the menu or should I just start preparing everything I can at the same time and hope you like some of it?"

Callista: *takes a moment to catch her breath* Um. Sure. Yeah. Works. Fine. Just... no pickles, please. That's... all I ask. Whew!

The employee nods, and gets to work. In a few seconds a number of things have been started and she pokes her head out to say, "You know, that thing about pickles is a very good reason to not yell like that. A less tempered person would've panicked and, well, a lot of these burgers and stuff come standard with pickles." Somewhere while doing that she pushes a few buttons on the register and its text changes to "WOW", and then to a price that comes very close to (but a little below) the amount of money in the wad of cash Callista put down a moment ago.
