Rare Indeed

((OOC: Yeah, we're still good. There's downed tree branches everywhere though (someone I know from work almost had his car crushed by a falling limb), and I've been told that we've received at least 2 inches of rain easily. One night this week, we had wind gusts of around 80 MPH, amongst other things.))

Swift: Maybe it's due to the nature of the rain. Sometimes it makes minor alterations to the person's personality... I mean, for instance, usually my sense of humor is much... drier than this, if you'll excuse the pun. *finally manages to stay straight without any problems*

Whyte goes over to a window, looking outside. "I guess having something more extreme happen would be pretty bad...I swear I could smell fear on that trainer when he noticed the rain on the way." It looks brighter outside, and the rain is less thick. "Hmm...Can you walk?"

((Makes me think of the Hey Arnold episode that spoofed the "seasons changing" thing by showing what looked like winter and fall, followed by someone saying "crazy weather this week, huh?" I think some touchpad ad did the same thing, too...))

*Swift takes a few tentative steps, trying to keep the lessons she's learned so far in mind. As her confidence increases, her movements become increasingly steadier and she walks much easier.*

Swift: I think I can manage now; thank you. How's it look out there?

"Well, I can see the sun. Maybe this is one of those brief storms that hits all at once and then goes away..and not a three-hour flood. And..whoa. I guess sometimes the rain melts clothes instead of making them," she says this last part on noticing a probably severely greened pedestrian outside.

Swift: *walks over to look; tail droops* ...I am so happy that I didn't get hit by that. Whyte, is it okay if I called my boss and asked her to get over here?

"Sure! She sounds like an interesting person to meet anyway. I'm guessing she'd have some way to get here without, um..getting wet?"

Swift: Yes. It's just a matter of giving her something she can find. Give me about... half a minute.

*Swift closes her eyes and focuses, her body glowing purple. It looks as if she's gathering energy for a Payback attack without actually attacking anything.*

Swift: ... ... ...Alright, she's found us. *stops glowing, deciding to sit down* You may want to cover your eyes in a few seconds.

"Okay!" The eevee-girl seems to whisper a count of 3 to herself, as if taking the term "a few" very literally, before putting her hands over her eyes. And then removing them if nothing happens after a second or two, or after whatever comes next happens.

*Right on time, a fireball appears in the air and rapidly expands, quickly becoming six feet in diameter. It doesn't harm the walls or equipment, but instead dispenses an adult human and two Pokémon---Mismagius and Gengar---before vanishing into nothingness.*

*5'8", light gray skin, short black hair, and large yellow irises in her eyes. Six pearl earrings in one ear, black shoes with Velcro, tan slacks and a dark green blouse. Amber Harrison, ladies and gentlemen. *

Amber: Alright, I got the message. What... *eyes Swift and Whyte* ...wow. You kids sure grow up fast, don't you?

*The Pokémon accompanying her roll around in the air, laughing. Swift seems to take the joke in stride.*

Whyte manages to have her eyes covered when the fireball hits, and then lets go. One of her ears droops sideways at Amber's comment. "You do know I'm technically pushing sixty or so, right?"

Amber: ...No, I wasn't aware of that. I had to make some sort of funny...

Swift: Focus, boss.

Amber: Oh, right. Right. *turns to Whyte* Need a lift away from the weather?

"Um..it might let off soon, but I think I'd appreciate it anyway. I mean, I don't really know this town..or this world, like, at all. I don't think I've been here more than a few hours now..."

Swift: Come to think of it, I've been on my feet most of the day...

Amber: Hmm... well, it's as good a time as any, since the kids are still visiting with my in-laws. What do you two say to some lunch?

"Sure!" the Eevee-girl's ears pop up and her tail starts wagging. After a second or two, she seems to realize what she's doing and calms down. "I mean, I would definitely appreciate it."

Amber: Alrighty. Up and at 'em, Swift; let's go.

Swift: My feet are tired. Could you carry me?

Amber: *taken back* Oh, for... c'mon, it's only for a few seconds!

Swift: Please?

Amber: ...Sheesh... *walks over and picks up Swift, grunting with the weight* If I throw out my back because of this...

*Amber's Gengar, Vacuum, snickers and turns to Whyte*

Vacuum: --Stick close, Eevee-girl. The boss's technique is a bit disorienting, but it's the fastest way to get anyplace in town.--
