A Ready-Maid Residence

Chris pauses the game for a moment as she hears Claire come in, smiling back as she watches her, beaming as she notices the ice cream. Quickly getting up, she runs over to the living room table, trying to reach it if the table is short enough for her to do so. Amidst trying to get her ice cream, Chris turns to Claire, pausing. "Um...do you not play it?"

*The table isn't very high, no more than about a foot and half... maybe two feet high.*

Claire: *shakes her head a little* It's not that I don't use it, Miss Chris. It's just that I'm normally so busy, I don't have the time to play it more than once or twice a month. *takes a bite of ice cream* Mm.

[Marky]

Blinking, Chris frowns at Claire. "That sucks..." She says, before pausing. "Do you just work for, um...Miss Circe?" Chris asks, as she carefully takes the bowl of ice cream and slowly begins eating.

Claire: *nods; another bite* Yes, that's right. I assist customers and handle various duties at the Magic Shop and Eatery both, a task that sometimes keeps me there after they close for the evening. ...If I may ask, is the ice cream to your satisfaction?

Smiling as she listens, Chris nods to the question about the ice cream. "Um-hm...it's good!" She says, smiling, before pausing. "Wait...Circe has a restaurant, too?"

Claire: *another bite, and a nod* Indeed. It's essentially a standard restaurant (and arcade), with some transformative drinks bearing prominent places on the menu.

Chris blinks a little as she listens. "Huh. I see. I might go and see the arcade sometime, I guess...if it doesn't do anything to people or whatever..." She says, mumbling a little to herself, drowning the mumble in another bite of ice cream.

Claire: *continues eating* To my knowledge, the arcade should be safe. *smiles* You looked like you were having fun with this game when I came in.

Nodding, Chris smiles, doubly so at the mention the arcade should be safe, before looking back at the game. "Ohh, yeah. I kinda like the game. It's been a long time since I last played it."

Claire: I know how you feel. *chuckles softly* Out of the ones I have, that's the one I value the most. It's the sole tie I have to my birth form.

Blinkblinking, Chris slowly takes another bite of her ice cream, tilting her head a little. "Birth form?"

Claire: Mm. *stares up at the ceiling* I was born male, and I played a lot of video games as a child. Super Mario was my game of choice. *giggles* I played it so often, my parents used to wake up at night thinking they were hearing the stage music. *looks down at her ice cream sadly* Those were the days, little fox.

Listening to Claire's story, Chris can't help but smile as she continues eating her ice cream. However, she pauses and frowns a little at the last sentence, noticing the sad look on Claire's face. "Um...sorry if I, um...brought up any bad memories or so..."

Claire: They weren't 'bad', per se. *relishes another bite of ice cream before speaking* I just miss those times so much, when I could simply relish entertainment and not be worried about the everyday duties of life. *...and another* I love being able to work for Lady Circe, and I enjoy being of service to others... but I think part of me will always be this small game-loving child.

Nodnodding a little in understanding, Chris just silently continues to eat the ice cream as she listens to Claire speak. "I guess I can kinda look at this as...well, being a second chance at stuff...but, I...why me? Why...so little?" She says, blushing a bit.
