Jerona: Lessons in Psychopomping

[Blaze]

As she steps in to the house, she feels an unnatural chill in the air and the sense that she's not alone. There's a flight of stairs before her and a door to her right.

[KonokoHasano]

Shivers for a moment as she looks around for a moment. Upon noticing the stairs and the door, she decides to go down the stairs, moving down.

[Blaze]

Heading down the stairs, Jerona comes across... a dining room? Three people sit at a round table, a woman, a man and a boy. It's obvious that they're a family, but something seems off. They're far too pale for one thing. And transparent.

[KonokoHasano]

"Hello." Jerona greeted as she walked up to the family. Observing them for a moment, she seemed to think of something that caused a momentary look of sadness to appear, before quickly getting rid of it. "How are the three of you doing?"

[Blaze]

The three people are startled and look at jerona with wide eyes. Seems they dodn't notice her at first.

"Who are you?... what happened?" the man asks, his voice a whisper. The woman seems to be sobbing quietly and the boy is trembling.

[KonokoHasano]

"I will be blunt about this. It appears as if the three of you have died, and are now spirits lingering around this place. It is my job to help the three of you move on and be at peace." She looks around. "Tell me... what is the last thing that you remember?"

[Blaze]

The family looks at Jerona confused. It seems they heard the words, but they just didn't link up in their minds.

"W-What do you mean?" the woman asks through her tears.
"N-No! NO! I didn't do anything!" the boy screams in horror, clambering out of his chair and feeling into the darkness!

[KonokoHasano]

"..." Jerona raises an eyebrow at the boy, before bowing to the mother. "I apologize for bringing this to light to you, ma'am. If you'll excuse me, I feel as if I need to check upon your son. He seems a bit distraught." She turns and follows after the boy. The way he came off sounded a bit... suspicious.

[Blaze]

The two spirits barely seem to realize what just happened, ignoring Jerona as she pursues the boy. Through the inky blackness, she find an open door and sounds of scuffling inside.

[KonokoHasano]

Jerona pokes her head on through the door and looks around for the source of the noise.

[Blaze]

The boys is rummaging under a bed. Looks like this was his room, the floor is covered in clothes, toys... and soot? He emerges and turns to smile nervously at Jerona, what just happened seemingly forgotten.

"Wanna see something cool?"

[KonokoHasano]

"I suppose I do." Jerona said, moving over towards the boy and kneeling down before him to watch.

[Blaze]

The boy pulls a large egg-shaped ruby out from under the bed with an excited smile.

"I found this..."

The ruby has an aura of maliciousness about it...

[KonokoHasano]

Jerona frowns at the feeling from the gem. "Where is it that you got it from, if I may ask?"

[Blaze]

"I found it." the boy says cryptically... as the em begins to crack! Darkness begins to spill from the cracks and pool on the ground.
