Kirk swallows dryly, and gives a little nod. "Azurus...is the power source, yes. And...as I said, it had other ideas."

He lowers his voice. "I had to pull you away because if only the two of us, Azurus will probably be paying more attention to the larger group of minds--more of a...psychic imprint, if you understand. I'm not the expert, I fear...but, the project leader, Professor Margaret Zero..." The man shakes his head. "Well, you've already met her. I was just a project assistant."


Meanwhile, Peggy blinks. "Oh, uhm....Like, not far at all!"

The buxom blonde wiggles in closer. "And it's nice and frosty!"

Professor Serilde listens intently to Kirk's explanation, and her expression turns grim as Kirk confirms her suspicions that Peggy had formerly been an intelligent research scientist. "I see. We probably shouldn't spend too long on our own, or this 'Azurus' might get curious.. although if we act like you're trying to seduce me, it may buy us time. After all, it doesn't seem to have noticed you've largely retained your faculties, perhaps because you're playing along with what it wants. But... are there any records or research notes left over from your expedition? Also, can you give me at least a quick description of what Azurus is like, in appearance and any other qualities you can define?"


Meanwhile, Private Leverett lets out a nervous laugh. "Ahhh, well, I s-suppose someplace cool would be a nice change from this heat..." he admits.

The orb cracks again, this time more severely! The girl can see something else--a smaller orb, more sedate, and about teh size of a fist--floating within....but she may also see one of the creature's claws snatching at her!

Chisame gives a loud 'yeep' at the claw, lashing out and... biting down hard on the claw o.o

Merah looks to the woman, and says with a tone of maturity and authority -- something it almost always lacks, " Something likely beyond most people's understand... regardless there is more at work here then what appears. I am not from here -- here being this world. I am from a mirror world it appears. Or perhaps just an alternate timeline. Regardless! ...regardless it explains where I am and what happened."

*Smiles to the sleazebag in front of him. If he could con the conman perhaps there was a way out of this.*
But then you wouldn't get to find out what I know... Perhaps I know how to make the rift this casino is built on stable.
Think about it. A whole other world to gamble, drink, and lose here at your very own little armpit of the universe.
Of course, we both like games don't we... And we both know things which would be valuable to one another. Why not make it a game for the two of us?

The man...raises an eyebrow, shifting slightly.

The woman gives Merah a curious look, before reaching out her hand...and ruffling the girl's hair.

"Well whatever the case, you should be safe here for now at least." She pauses. "...Safe as can be expected, of course. I think it might be time for a bit of an autopsy."

The claw tastes of paint, and of blood. It's not a pleasant taste...but the beast ROARS again, pulling its claw back!

Kirk hesitates. "Well...she's..." He frowns, leaning in, as if to peck her cheek. "She's massive and scaled, with a tail as long as long as a school bus. You wouldn't think that her real power is in he mind..."

Leaning back, he shrugs. "And as for the papers--yeah, we have them still. Or, Peggy does. I think she's been using them as wrapping paper."

Meanwhile, the girl beams, grabbing his hand! "Okay, c'mon c'mon!"

The girl smiles. "Now--concentrate! We can do a team attack! Uh. How about...'Sparkstorm' we can call it!

The creature meanwhile has begun again to advance, another creaking roar emerging!

Blaze closes her eyes once more and reaches deep inside herself, repeating the phrase over and over in her mind!

"Yuuuuuck." Spits out the paint and blood. It was soooo gross! However, instead of being distracted by that, Chisame leaps and slams her hand into the orb, grabbing the smaller one! "Gotcha!"

Kirk hesitates. "Well...she's..." He frowns, leaning in, as if to peck her cheek. "She's massive and scaled, with a tail as long as long as a school bus. You wouldn't think that her real power is in he mind..."

Doctor Serilde lets out a giggle at the pretend peck on her cheek, and cuddles up close to Kirk... making it easier for them to murmur quietly. "Hmmm.... some kind of dragon, then? Exactly how large is she?" She pauses for a moment. "Could we retrieve those papers while Peggy is occupied?"

The private, meanwhile, hesitates as Peggy grabs his hand, glancing back at the sergeant! Sergeant Meinhard nods after a moment, stretching languidly. "We could probably do that... it's not too far, is it?" he asks Peggy. "I wouldn't want to get too far from our friend, in case she comes looking for us."

[Vomica]

Merah gives a very dark frown, "...some of them are still alive in a way, perhaps not able to recover, but it'd be... a vivisection." She looks to the ground, and looks up again "But that is a matter of ethics, nor morality, if you wish for me to assist in such a thing, I will do as such."

*Mendo smiles, coolly walking forward. Seems as if he was going to take the bait*
Games of chance are your business, correct? Then surely lady luck will be on your side for a simple coin toss.
Heads and I reveal to you a way to bust open that portal and bring the biggest business you've ever seen... Tails and you release my friend and I from your care and send us on our way back from whence we came.

As she does, the footsteps of the beast seem to fade, and her staff seems to grow warm--no, hot! She feels the girl squeeze her hand as the wind whirls around her, brushign at her hair and skirt.

"Now!"

For a moment the orb seems to burn her hand! But if she gives it a yank, the burning stops abruptly....and the creature before her freezes up!

--CTC, A Rational Response--

The man hesitates. "Not a dragon exactly--there aren't any wings and we don't have any data on any breath weapons, but that's not far off. And--yes. I can show you right now if you like."

Peggy giggles, and gives her head a perky shake. "Nope! It's juuuust around the corner, c'mon c'mon!"

The woman shakes her head lightly. "Oh--no, not one of these."

She hesitates. "Though, I'll admit, they don't die easy. No pain receptors that I can tell, but more importantly it's not safe to pull one fully apart while its still alive--who knows what it could do. These creatures seem to have backup systems distributed at random. No--here, we're going into the next room."

She pauses.

"Are you alright with blood?"

The man pauses...and shrugs. "Fine. Got a coin?"

"Hothothothot." She let out, wincing some, and then blinks as it stops. "Huh?" Looking up at the creature, she tilts her head and pokes it!

Blaze winces as the staff grows hot in her hands and the wind swirls about her. At the other girl's prompt, she releases the pent up power!

The doctor nods slightly at Kirk's explanation. "Hmm, I see. And let's go... the longer we procrastinate, the greater the odds something goes wrong."

Meanwhile, the private hestiates a little more, casting another glance at Sergeant Meinhard, before finally nodding. "A-All right... just for a little bit."

The sergeant, meanwhile, glances knowingly at the EDU robot standing silently nearby, and simply nods.
