Exorcists, let us begin

[Blaze]

Blaze nods as Okuni shoots another minor demon chewing on a steak.

"Would help a lot. It took a while to draw the bigger ones close last time."

[Raleigh]

Alright. *Lets free a sliver of spiritual energy to entice yet more and stronger demons. The fact that sliver could probably power New York City for a week might help pull them in.*

[Blaze]

As Raleigh lets off the magical energy, demons can be heard howling all across the netherworld.

"... we should set up a barrier to make sure we don't get mobbed by the weaker demons. Lucy, if you would?" Blaze says.

The half-demon nods and takes out several sticks of incense, lighting them with a match. She flies out and places them in a circle around the soul trap.

[Raleigh]

Heh, perhaps I went a bit overboard? Ah well, at least we will have a nice little harvest this way I imagine. Wonder if we will get any of the named ones.

[Blaze]

The Exorcists don't answer, preferring to prepare as figures can be seen approaching on the horizon. Blaze preps several different guns and ammo, Jean mutters some prayers, Lucy takes out some flowers and incense, Okuni puts several quivers full of arrows in easy reach and Logos takes out several kinds of weapon, already glowing with a purple light.

[Raleigh]

*Waits until the creatures are close enough before disappearing only to reform in the middle of a batch of the demons. Seems he is having fun judging from the laughing they can hear despite the fact that its hard to make him out in the mass. A few souls and such float free to be collected.*

[Blaze]

The exorcists set up a large pot with several seals on them before joining the fray! Blaze stays within the circle with Lucy and Okuni while Jean and Logos rush into the thick of things. Blaze snipes several demons with blessed ammunition, dropping one per shot. Okuni fires multiple arrows into the sky, causing them to rain down on the demons while Lucy blasts the hoards with cutting gusts of wind, deeply wounding them.

Jean takes out the Psalms and pumps the full of holy magic and leaps into the hoard, swinging them around and scoring deep cuts on the demons. Logos uses her demon banishing sword to instantly kill every demon she slices. Every time one is killed within the soul trap, their essence flies out and enters the pot they set up.

[Raleigh]

*Spotting one unique looking demon in the slaughter that has a fascinatingly shaped set of teeth that seem to be radiating a kind of corrupting energy Raleigh singles it out.* Interesting, a kind of greed and envy demon hybrid. You'll be of use to me. *He sets into tearing its jaw from its skull for use in weapon creation.*

[Blaze]

Jean and Logos do similar things, ripping out teeth, claws and even organs that look like they would make or improve weapons and throw them back to the center circle.

However, now the bigger stronger demons start to show up. Some of the hoard flees and lets the get closer, and the Exorcists shift tactics. Rather then focusing on killing as many demons as possible, they start to focus on the new arrivals. Blaze switches out her sniper rifle for an Accuracy International AW50F anti-material rifle and starts shooting with blessed armor-piercing explosive rounds. Okuni starts firing bolts of pure chi rather than a storm of arrows. Lucy tries to push the demons over with gusts of wind to make the crush the smaller demons.

Lucy and Logos however, take a leaf from a certain Spartan's book and start climbing the demons, avoiding their attempts to flick them off and finding a vital point and slashing it, causing them to bleed out.

[Raleigh]

*Spotting one of the larger ones that he knows is associated with disease as well as having an interesting spinal ridge he smashes a fist into the ground causing blades to erupt from the earth cutting down the small fry around him before making a beeline for this new target. While the demon is probably about five times his size that doesn't seem to be leading to any hesitation given that he has already shattered one of its kneecaps as he rushes past it before coming back around to systematically shatter its limbs.* You know this is rather fun.

[Blaze]

At the sight of the greater demons falling so quickly, the lesser demons beat a hasty retreat. The Exorcists take down a couple before they're out of range.

"Good job everyone!" Blaze calls.

[Raleigh]

Everyone got what they want? *Is lugging in a large spinal column and some other trinkets toward the perimeter they had set up.*

[Blaze]

Blaze looks around at the gathered parts and checks the cauldron, which is glowing with an eerie red light.

"All this would make some good weapons. I would say we're ready."

The others nod and start working. Jean lights the forge, pumping some holy magic into the flames, Okuni fills the slack tub with holy water and Lucy gathers the tools needed.

Logos meanwhile waves Raleigh over.

"The first part is to try and reduce the essence's sense of self. The first part is easy enough."

Taking a large wooden spoon etches with glyphs, she opens the cauldron and starts stirring all the essence compressed within.

"By mixing them up, we confuse them and make them start to forget what they were. By doing so, when they're made into a weapon, they are less likely to influence the wielder."

[Raleigh]

I see. Toning down its ability to influence the wielder would be ideal in most cases. What if, however, you wished to create a weapon that would bequeath a specific demon's trait to the wielder on top of whatever usual special magic a demon weapon might have? Say an axe that would grant its user some of the ferocity of the demon it contains as well as the usual things such a weapon would have?

[Blaze]

"That is possible, though we would have to be careful to ensure the weapon doesn't take over when that ability is used." Blaze says as she shakes up the jar with the essence with the first demon.

"We'll use this to demonstrate. Is that okay?"
