"Not really... I'--", a faint glimpse upwards towards his goggles before quickly, "--I'm fully new to it, no magic at all, ha ha-ha..." nerves raging up again.

[Ookalf]

*Circe follows Dan's gaze to his goggles, but says nothing about it.* Is that so... Well, I'm sure you'll experience plenty of magic in Muffinville, one way or another. And I suppose my next question would be, is there anything in particular you're looking to learn?

[xGoggles]

For those with an eye to detect magic, they could notice a very small magical resonance on the boy's goggles, so little it could easy been overlooked at if not paying attention.

"Hmmm, well besides one day finding a way to return back home... maybe a couple of neat tricks would be nice, like teleportation or summoning, oh.... and ways to protect myself from harmful magic."
"Um, not sure what types of magic you are proficient in.... Maybe I'm asking for a lot..."
He looks down, not sure if anyone would even accept him as a student, they pretty much have to start from zero and not like he had anything to offer in return.

[Ookalf]

*Circe nods.* Right. I think that's everything I need to hear... You go ahead and enjoy the party. We'll work out all the details of your apprenticeship afterward.

[xGoggles]

"Oh--..okay?" That went well, better than expected even... This gave a young man a huge relief, maybe he shouldn't have been that worried after all...

Looking back at the party, so many people, mostly maids, lots of cute maids... wait why would anyone need so many maids anyway? Sure the place is huge, but this seemed a bit overdone...
At least it's a nice view, thinking of a 'nice view', his hand moving upwards, with slight intent to lower his mysterious goggles over his eyes--... before quickly shooting downwards again realizing his situation, why risk losing everything for something as silly as that? No-no, this is not the place or time for naughty thoughts... Let's not use grandad's goggles for a while...

Paying attention again to his food, his dessert still untouched, might as well eat it slowly and let time fly by... Parties with strangers were never really his thing anyway.

[AmbushCat]

*The Black Maine Coon that had been eating in a corner of the room looks up, noting the man's general discomfort. Finishing the last of his own meal, the cat walks on over and jumps into the chair next to him, meowing to get his attention.*

Dan noticed the cat suddenly sitting on the chair next to him, weird cats don't normally sit on chairs... maybe it's one of those intelligent ones, like a 'familiar', right? "Umm, hi there... kitty?" he questioningly answered the cat.

[AmbushCat]

*A closer look at the cat shows a sky blue collar around his neck with several tags attached, one of which has the name 'Echo Harrison' engraved in it. The cat nods its head jerkily and meows again, as if confirming Dan's greeting with one of his own.*

Reading the tag "Echo Harrison...? Weird name for a cat"
Looking around from his seat to see if anyone is vividly looking for a lost cat maybe, he turns back to the cat and humour it "So, enjoying the party on your own? Should we go look for your master?"

[AmbushCat]

*If housecats could truly smile, Echo probably would be doing so as he springs a little surprise: he opens his mouth... and talks, his voice akin to a 6-year-old child.*

Echo: I don't like parties. I'm just here because my siblings are.

[xGoggles]

"Yaaa what?!" A bit shocked that the cat suddenly started talking. A few blinks of surprise later, "Y-you can talk? Wait, siblings?" He looks back at the crowd trying to spot other cats roaming around.

[AmbushCat]

Echo: One you've probably seen bothering a maid on the way in. The others...

*Echo sits up and waves a paw in the general direction of three other figures: the adolescent black-furred felinoid standing near the DJ station, nodding her head in time to the music...*

Eebon: *humming* Na, na na, na na na na, gaw...

*...the crazed catboy with a Miami Marlins hat, who's more or less all over the place...*

Elk: We are Number One, but it's perfect!

*...and the middle school-age human girl sitting near where Dan came in, playing Bridge with three maids.*

Ellen: ... ...

*Circe chuckles at Dan's reaction to Echo.* And let that be your first lesson about Muffinville - never judge by appearances.

"Hmmm, so a lot of things aren't what they seem here?" Looking back around, besides the over amount of maids, people with animal features and talking cats, things looked normal enough for a banquet party... Well not like he ever went to one before, but he could imagine they were like this.
Coming to think of it... the food he ate was normal, right? The appearance matched the smell and taste... He shouldn't overthink it, he was a guest after all, at the home of one of the most powerful magic users in this city, nothing to worry about... Better here, than outside~

"Umm, why do you have a human sister?" he asks Echo.
