*Doris snarls at something and slams her laptop closed. After taking a moment to regain her composure, she hauls out an old overhead projector from underneath her table and goes about setting it up.*

Doris: Apologies for the delay, you two. I'd wanted to get started as soon as you arrived, but apparently Windows hates me. We'll have to have this orientation the old-fashioned way.

Robin just nodded, not entirely sure what Doris was talking about.

Doris: *noticing her confusion in that regard* See, I've been responsible for these orientations for years now. At some point I put together this nice little presentation with pictures, slides and such illustrating some of the things you're likely to see while you're on the job, and showing the right way to handle them. *frowns* And now all of a sudden I'm hit with technical difficulties because computers, and I can't show it like I planned. So, I'll have to ask you to forgive this use of obsoletion. *gestures at the projector*
...
But I'm getting ahead of myself. *stands up and bows* I'm Doris, and despite appearances, I am a long-time member of Circe's staff.

Robin nods at her explanation, and then bows back at Doris, it seemed like the proper thing to do. "Nice to meet you. And don't worry about using the projector instead, I don't really mind it."

Danaye nods with a smile, "Haha, yeah. Safety first~" She then proceeds to put on her goggles and starts giving the fruits a look. "Okay, first the teal-ish mango, or 'ringo' as you called it. Hmm, the size looks similar but the texture.. Oh, looks kinda similar to rice? Ooh! Is that why it is called ri-ngo?"

*Penny nods* Yep. Pretty simple, isn't it?

You want me to call someone to deal with that issue?

Doris: *nods* Lovely.

You want me to call someone to deal with that issue?

Doris: After we're done. I don't want to delay this any longer than I have to; I have to give this same spiel to a plant-girl in a little while, and I only have so much time to work with.

*The android---or gynoid, if you want to be technical---switches off the lights directly over her equipment, then places a transparency on the projector. The image that appears on the screen depicts a maid dusting off an antique clock. This part isn't important, but when Doris turns her back to Robin briefly, a stylized letter 'C' can be seen on the back of her helmet.*

Doris: To start with, you've probably figured that as one of Lady Circe's maids, you'll be expected to do any tasks you're assigned. If you don't know how to do a certain chore, that's fine; there will usually be someone on hand to show you the ropes. Believe me, I was thoroughly lost when I started working here. I had no clue how to do anything. Now? I'm a lean, mean, cleaning machine that's lost for a completely different reason. *directs this next bit to Kelly, frowning* Seriously. I thought I was headed for the library on the 2nd floor last week. How'd I end up in the basement bowling alley?

Robin nods as Doris goes on. “I’m sure I’ll figure it out...I mean it’s just cleaning and doing other chores yeah? Can’t be too complicated.”

"Okay. Now I actually want to cut a little piece of it, to see how the texture looks like within the fruit. Is this safe to do so, or can these fruits be explosive?", she asks Penny for reassurance while holding a scalpel.

*Kelly shrugs and shakes her head.* It's one of the great mysteries of the manor, right there...

It should be fine, assuming no one hid a bomb in there when we weren't looking...

Doris: *sighs, annoyed* Been here for ten years and I still don't get this place sometimes...

Doris: Miss Kelly's correct. If the Muffin Continent's a nexus of strangeness, Circe's manor is a nexus for that nexus. There's always something interesting going on here, whether it's something as mundane as a two-legged talking wolf drinking alcohol in the kitchens or as crazy as a schizophrenic ex-skirt chaser getting turned into an evil robot by magic fruit and getting football-tackled for a hug by an enthusiastic catboy. The thing you'll have to learn over time is this:

*The gynoid swaps transparencies. The picture on this one depicts another maid, this one cleaning a beer mug while trying her best to ignore the chaos ensuing around her*

Never lose your cool. As part of the Continent's largest collection of Colorful and eccentric attendants, we're expected to keep our wits about us as often as possible. That's not to say we can't get stressed out or anything, just that we don't want ourselves to get overwhelmed by it. Even those of us with personalities not geared towards that sort of thing are able to present a certain level of decorum when dealing with others. *discreetly clears her throat, glancing up at the ceiling innocently*

Danaye gives Penny a look, unsure if she was joking or not, giving this place... "Ummm.. I sure hope not?..", she starts to hesitate. Would a bomb even fit in a fruit like this? And would anyone in the manor even want to place bombs in random fruits?.. Maybe she was just overthinking it.. this manor was strange, but that would just be too out of place. Taking the risk, she cuts the ringo with the scalpel to observe what texture it had inside.

*Joke or not, no explosions happen when Danaye cuts open the ringo, leaving her free to explore its fruity innards!*

Doris: It also helps that you're not expected to just be super-refined overnight. And no one's going to chastise you for freaking out. In some cases, I'd even call it justified. *coughs the words "Ambush Cat" into her hand* Just remember that you have literally hundreds of examples to draw from, be they fellow maids or part-timers. It'll take time and effort, but someday you'll be just as effective as anyone else here, both in skill and in manners.
