Musa's House

[Musashi]

Once the storm passed, the kitty pulled the cloak down a bit to get a better look around.

"Hey... what is this place, Sca-chan?"

[scarplo]

Sca pulled back her hood and smiled to Musashi with features looking years older. Hints of crows feet curled at her eyes, and a bit of sadness wavered in the expression. "This was Purgatory."

[Musashi]

The kitty blinkblinked in surprise at the now older-looking cowgirl.

"What do you mean? And what happened to you...?"

[scarplo]

A glance around showed a ruined landscape drowning in sand, a few vague forms wandering through the scenery. Sca looked just a bit sadder at the question, although that smile stayed strong. "I... I don't really know. First Scarplo vanished and then the pit exploded, and then the sky turned black, and..."

The cowgirl shivered, looked up, and then back at the ninja, tears swelling around her eyes. "The eye started blasting everything, and then it just... stopped. The sand started flowing in... we couldn't hold it all back..." That smile, that eerie, patient smile, stayed up as the tears rolled down her face.

And through the tears, as her voice breaks, "I'm sorry... you wanted to help him, didn't you?"

[Musashi]

"Yeah! We'll both help him, and help you too, and this whole place. It'll all be fixed up in no time!" The kittyninja gave a sparkly wink and a thumbs up. THE SPRINGTIME OF YOU-wait, wrong show.

Musa took up an end of his scarf and wiped at Sca's tears. "So what do we do first? Go poke out an eye or something? A big stupid eyeball doesn't scare me." >:3

[scarplo]

The sadness left Sca's eyes, and she blushed just a bit, "Thank you, thank you..." and then the ninja of all things kitteny and shadow was hugged by the elder cow-woman. There was a faint cracking sound, like glass grinding, and the hug was just a bit stiff with one arm.

This became a little bit less important when Scarplo's voice rang out laughing, "You'll turn off the light! You'll turn off the light!"

Sca's hug went from thankful to shock pretty quickly.

[Musashi]

"That sounded like..." Musa stepped out of the hug and took a firm but still gentle hold of Sca's hand, and began to pull her along, following the voice. "C'mon, we gotta hurry!"

[scarplo]

"No, Musashi, we need to..."

But before Sca could finish, Scarplo was in view. Perhaps a hundred or so feet off, he looked haggard... almost feral. His clothes were rags, his face bleeding, and hands dripping red as he perched on a ruin. Reaching upward, he howled at the sky, "YOU FORGOT THE LIGHT!"

And the sky grew dark, while he grew brighter, as if the light were focusing around him.

Sca pulled against Musashi, "Musa, you don't understand! We need to go!"

[Musashi]

Musa stopped, biting his lip and flicking his tail, seeming to be torn between running headlong into possible horrible disaster-ness and listening to something more logical. "What? Why? He's hurt! Why can't we go help him now?!"

[scarplo]

Concern flooded from Sca's eyes, but her grip did not loosen. If anything, she pulled harder. "It's not him, Musashi! It's not... Get down!"

And as the ninja had the odd experiance of being tackled by a mature cow girl, both heard a howling wind followed by, "you... you remembered the light?"

Then came a boom.

[Musashi]

Yes indeedy, Musa's ninja reflexes were no match for a tackling cow girl. :o And down he went, hitting the ground face-first. Ow.

At the sound of the boom, his delicate wittle kitty ears went flat, and he looked up as much as he could to see what was happening.

[scarplo]

The ruin shimmered in a pale blue glow, and within it a figure stretched upwards, eyes wide, mouth stretched just as far. Bits of sand fell around the flickering light, falling away to reveal a crystal, the size of a man, with Scarplo... or his twin, locked within.

Above the crystal a patch of sand writhed. "the light..." twisting into the shape of a man, "we'll escape on the flashlight..." and forming into a Scarplo, looking confused and saddened.

"The light?"

A shadow loomed behind him.

[Musashi]

Total confusion wracked the poor little kitty's brains. This gave an opportunity for his urge to protect Scarpy to overpower any logic. Musa scrambled out from beneath Sca, and made a ninja-dash towards all the WTFery.

"I dunno what I'm doing, but I'll just start blowin' some s*** up if I have to!"

[scarplo]

As this is a ninja versus a person in the arts of escapery and running really quickly, Sca is still standing up when Musashi is at the crystal pillar. The light shines through it, showing a middle aged man, finger sized scars along his cheeks, a maniac grin frozen on his face, buldging eyes looking up at something in almost reverent awe.

There was another of this man, sans the exagerated features and the scarring along his cheeks, looking like a younger Scarplo, swaying about atop the crystal. "The... the light?" The shadow he did not see became an old man, solidly built, eyes hidden behind two planes of white, like he was straight from an Alan Moore movie.

Eyes hidden or not, the ninja would recognize the elder of the two; it was the guy he was here to save, after all.

[Musashi]

The kittyninja did indeed recognize his crotchety old Scarpy, and went scurrying to him, letting out little kitteny mews along the way.

"Scarpy! Hey, hey, Scarpy!" The typist is assuming they're still on top of that crystal, and so the Musalet tried very hard to get up there, by means of ninja-jumps and much kitty-clawing.
