Yeah.

Well, my original idea was for a series of RPs that involved people being sucked in worlds based on Ginny's books. Wonderland seemed obvious as it was her favourite (and mine), but it could also be the easiest to do as there's so much there to play with, it might make following it up quite hard.

I'm now torn over the cheery vs dark part. I sometimes struggle with shorter posts, it's harder to respond when you're given less to work with like that. I thought perhaps making it more serious would encourage people to be more descriptive for some reason.

Now I really don't know what to do. My biggest fear is getting into something I can't finish.

I like the idea of everything seeming cheery on the surface, but with darker undertones.

Think the graphics of the Disney version plus the plot of the original book.

And if you're worried about post length, try to impose a length minimum or a, 'your post must contain x, y and z' rule.

Keep it fresh and they'll come. Rp's can last aslong as the GM and the players want it to even into the 800 pages xD

It's up to you as GM to put your part.

Ohh yeah Harri. Syfy had on a new mini series called Alice based off Alice in Wonderland. You might want to check it out sometime.

I'm not sure if we have Syfy over here. I seem to remember there being a Sci-fi channel of some sort, but I've never been much of a sci-fi fan until very recently, so never bothered with it. I saw the DVD was meant to be coming out in March though, I could probably get my hands on that.

Edit: Just watched a promo vid, and that looks pretty good I love most things based on the story, and have 4 different movie versions already

For the cheery vs. dark, I think balance is the way to go. Have friendly aspects and sinister ones, and some that look like one but are in fact the other. The very fact some things are untrustworthy adds some seriousness.

Don't fear not being able to handle it. You've given every indication that you can, and if you do start to get overwhelmed, you can always take a break, or discuss with the players which direction to go. Running a game seems intimidating, but once you're actively doing it, it's much, much less so.

Tim Burton is coming out with his version of Wonderland, starring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, and I think the Red Queen is being played by Anne Hathaway. Everyone from the March Hare, the white rabbit, Alice, and Tweedledum and Tweedledee are in it, as is the Cheshire Cat.
