Techno Evolution: And then it goes boom.

[Raleigh]

Time: 6:14 AM, 4th day of 8 day long week, 13th month
Location: Intersection between upper Neo Eden and the suburban like Middle layers, specific intersection between block 14 and block 20.
Begin scene:
Another busy day began on Neo Eden. People set about on their way to work or, in the case of those that burn the midnight oil, home. A tanker bearing the DrakeCorp Logo is caught up in an explosion while heading toward the lower levels of Neo Eden. The Anarchists claim responsibility for the explosion on the important transportation road in an effort to spread chaos amongst the normally peaceful upper levels. The explosion causes the contents of the container to fall through the wreckage of the road to the lowest levels of the city causing only some minimal damage on its way down. DrakeCorp officials are busy cleaning up the damage and have secretly sent out requests to the Assassin's Guild as well as the various other Black Market associated organizations to find the contents of the tanker. They are told that it is a solid box rather than a liquid as that was a camouflage to hide what was being transported. No one is to open it but immediately return it to DrakeCorp. Most know, even in the Black Market's headquarters, DrakeCorp's eyes are everywhere and disobeying that particular instruction will result in some trouble. The people move to recollect the item the company desires hoping for grand rewards and possibly even being set up for the easy life on the upper levels amongst the nobles and wealthy.

[Haylie]

Tye sits in his dumpster. His katana's crossguard's digging into his back again. But at least he hasn't been caught yet. He'd been sitting in that crappy-smelling hole for a good forty-five minuets already. The smell was soaking into his red hair.
It wasn't his fault DrakeCorp wouldn't pay what they promised. He was doing exactly what he said he would before he even signed on: I get my due, or I won't do it. Maybe it's not that clever and technically doesn't rhyme, but it gets the point across... or so he thought.
He was fidgeting with the safety on his pistol when he hears the commotion outside. He decides to risk lifting the dumpster lid slightly and peeking out. Maybe another opportunity for some cash?

[Zoey]

Caine was awake by the time the tanker blew up, he was never much of a sleeper anyways. He tried to walk through the steets of Downtown Neo Eden, but it was a scene of Chaos as people scambled to find something from the tanker to trade for money. "What a pain..." said Caine as he flashed steped into a tavern's entrance. "I hope your not closed for the day." he said as he entered.

Harlie was running through the street. She heard an explosion, heard it was a DrakeCorp truck, and she was gone. The only thoughts in her head were what fantastic new amps she could get, and whether she would keep all of them or trade a few for some more flash. She licked her lips in hunger, eyes wild. Yeah, she'd sell some for more flash.

[Katty]

I, Rachel, am curled up in a ball. I heard that big boom and it make me scared. I do not like booms. All those people who were after me went boom when they tried to hurt me. Now when I hear a boom, I think it is my fault. After the boom was over for a bit, I looked to see where it came from. The boom was a good bit away on the other side of town. I was happy. For once it was not me who made something go boom.

I picked myself up, and the hamburger I took, and started to walk away from the boom's direction. What ever was there, I knew it was bad and that I did not want to be there.

[Tala]

Kate was watching from the top of a buildign near the site of hte explosion. "Nice one. But a little flashly for my tastes. But props on going old school."

[Raleigh]

Alpha stands there overlooking the damage to the street. Beside him stands his employer.
Drake: "Alpha, I need you to find the contents before the groups do. If the Anarchists or the Spectre groups get it first there will be trouble."
Alpha: "Very well sir, I'll head down to the lower levels now. Any priorities I should consider?"
Drake: "Kill those that pose a threat but try to work with others if its beneficial. Besides, you never know when we might be able to acquire useful agents in the field."
Alpha: "Understood sir." The machine's form shifts a bit and he jumps down the hole and floats down below hoping to land near the item.

A black box sits calmly in the ally and minds its own business. For those who possess the awareness though, the ally is filled to the brim with shadows of the dead.

The woman running the tavern looks up at its newest entrant. "Of course we are open. The Amber Tears is always open. Sit down, have a drink. Just behave yourself or I'll gun you down before you can move." The bar owner seems nice enough but there is something to the way that she delivers the threat that indicates its not empty by a long shot. The fact that various shady characters are in the bar and all seem to be on model behavior despite some of them being obviously murderers and thieves might have something to do with it.

[Tala]

Kate walks into the tavern and waves to the owner. She sits and drinks some water.

[Zoey]

"Why thank you miss." replies Caine as he takes a seat. "I'd like to have the best you have, please" he said to the woman. After making himself at home, he could feel the dark aura from the guys behind him, but he'd knew they were just scum that weren't worth his time. Either way Caine was careful and kept his left hand over his hip close to one of his guns just in case. "So any idea why today's been so... active." said Caine to the woman as he looked at the madness outside through the window.

[Katty]

I got lost in the streets. Somehow, I ended up outside Ms. Ambers place. She was always a nice lady, if not a bit trigger happy if something happens, if memory is good. And my memory is very very good. I knew I had to get away from this area. There was a really bad mind in there. I turned to go down an alley, but there was this evil looking box that my powers 'saw'

The box scared me.

[Haylie]

(I'll assume the box is in the same alley Tye's in)

Tye couldn't quite put his finger on it... but something about that box creeped him out. Didn't scare him, hell no, but sort of... made him want to keep his distance.
Naturally, he climbed out of the dumpster to investigate, scratching his head with the barrel of his pistol.

[muffinstud]

Creepy or not, Harlie figured that box had to have something good in it. She took a flying leap through the ally to jump on it and hug her newest toy, and possibly newest stash of Flash yet.

[Raleigh]

The woman tending the bar sets out Caine's drink. "Seems some havoc up top started with those Anarchists blowing some crap up. Nothing too unusual for a Tuesday really other than the rumor that the cargo was from DrakeCorp and they want it enough to send out word to the various agencies. As you know, no cops operate down here as they would get swarmed the moment the leave the middle levels much less got to this region so its up to the Assassins or Thieves to get it I suppose."

As Harlie grabbed the box one would believe that the other two could probably see her latching onto it. Racheal could probably see, for a moment at least, a few grotesque things appear for a moment at look at Harlie as she picked it up. Unseen by the three in the alley, a raven's eyes watch everything going on below.

[Zoey]

"True..." says Caine as he chugs down the drinks. "Good stuff ya got here. So... I guess they put out a bounty on the cargo, huh?" he says with an intrested attitude. His mind already thinking on the money.

[Tala]

Kate is listening intently so she can find out how to spite the company.
