James impatiently taps his feet, waiting for the guy in front of him to give his details. Hurry up you fool...

Hogarth makes his way slowly into the line. He shrugs his shoulders, trying to get the hood of his cloak to cover his face better without putting a hand up to draw attention. He keeps his gaze low, but someone looking very close could still notice his unusual, gray eyes. He keeps to himself and tries his best to appear unassuming in the line. He swallows down a bit of fear at the obviously devout heroes in the line in front of him, the priests especially. He shakes his head and almost turns, but decides against it. After all, leaving the line suddenly would draw more attention to him than remaining in it.

The man pauses. "Right... I remember now. Sorry, too many heroes been and gone. Thought you were telling me your name. Where is HIS address?"

Meanwhile, several tables are carried out! More clerks sit down behind them and shout. "We can take the next ones in line!"

Of that man skilled in all the ways of contending,

James quickly ran over to one of the new clerks. "Name's James Lute. Born in Hopencragen. No next of kin."

Hogarth looks this way and that before quickly sidestepping and heading over to one of the new tables. "Hogarth Vernal. I was born on a farm near Taylor's Ferry. My next of kin would be my mother, Francesca Vernal. She'd be at the farm." He frowns and considers the line. "This arena place isn't all that...fatal is it? I mean, there's a lot of people here. How many do you expect not to make it out?"

"Right." The clerk writes this down. "And who would we contact in event of your death?"

The other clerk writes this down! And considers the question. Glancing about, he leans in and whispers. "Just between you and me... if you have passable skill you will probably be accepted. This whole thing is to legitimize the fact that we are inviting outsiders into the kingdom... and to give some hope to the people. When dark spirits roam... no place is safe. Not even Overwatch..."

He straightens up. "Right... the door to your left will lead you to the waiting room..."

I think I will have his head cut off, if he ever travels to my kingdom... Andrew thinks to himself, then heads over through the doors.

James shrugged. "Hmm... tell my neighbours I suppose. I live on St. Dave Road. I suppose they should know I died."

"All right..." Hogarth frowns to himself as he makes his way to the door. He sighs just before going through. "I don't think I'll ever understand politics." He walks through the door and keeps his head low before sitting down at the nearest bench in the waiting room. Even not looking up, he could tell just how bulky and shiny the armor of these other people was. In his vision, their armor was like blaring beacons in a dust storm. He scratched at his rough pants and wondered for a moment just how that armor would feel on him. He shook his head. He'd never be able to afford that kind of armor, but maybe he could make some of his own...

She laughed at his blush and fumble, "A pleasure to meet you, Sir Dendin", she smiled, her head tilting a little as she looked down over his sword and armour, her brow creasing slightly. "A Paladin?", she asked, and then lifted her shield from the table, propping it up to display the very richly detailed golden sun that blazed across the front of it, "You know what this means?", she asked, patting the sun with a bare hand. "It's the Temple of the Sun. This shield is carried by all our Paladins".

"Right. Sorry I snapped, then. He's right on the other side of Overwatch, near the wall. Not a bad spot, all considered. Just wish there were a few more girls 'round there. Anyway, he lives in the smithy, just look for the sign with two hammers making an 'X' over a wood sign that says 'Blacke Smithy'. Can't miss it, really."

(And the puns just keep a-rollin' in)

As Victor finished his chant he felt the 3rd layer of his alert ward create, although tedious the ward had proven useful in the past. The mental alertion it provided was quite covert and minor but sufficient in telling him if something amiss was in the areas in question. The other 2 he had created at the castle gates usually sufficed when dealing with humans but with 'unknowns' additional wards were always nice to have. His chant done he proceed to grab some food to eat while he waited.

Sir Dendin took a couple steps back, "Temple of the Sun...eh?" he began berating himself for even imagining this woman as a suitable ally. Her silent betrayal cut deep into his soul and his faith shook in unseen rage. In the real world, Trey just looked silent but on the inside he was repeating his Holy Father's mantras and after a moment, he felt secure once more. He detached the latches holding his tower shield and held it upright on the ground, "THIS...is the lightning bolt of my Duke Merdol's land. While this symbol differs from paladin orders, they all worship the Holy Father in his temples." he was trying to be civil but the tension wasn't getting any thinner, "Now tell me, Miss..." he realized he didn't know the serpent's name, "What makes you think this Temple of the Sun can save you from our Holy Father's wrath for heresy?" his eyes had narrowed and his voice lacked that lively spirit it had this whole way here. He was ready to fight for the faith.

A little grin spread across her lips as he accused her of heresy, and she slowly rose to her feet, the heavy armour not seeming to weight her slender frame down at all. One hand curled around the handle of her sword, and she lifted it up slightly, holding it horizontally, a few inches away from her stomach, and for a second or two, the sword gave off a glow like the sun on a warm summer morning, "The Sun Goddess has been ignored for too long, but she has rewarded us greatly for our efforts to make her name known again... ".
