Fable: The Ties that Bind (RP Thread)

Robin seems to be glancing at Scarlet shyly, almost as if she was asking for permission to follow her.

Lyon follows Crimson, remaining silent.

Still miffed, Cletus grouchily follows the large man into the guild.

Once inside, the Payne couple split to go up two separate sets of stairs, Scarlet turning back to see if all the ladies following. It's still difficult to see her face, but one can almost make out a small mark under her left eye.

"Make sure you lot keep up," Crimson ordered without turning around. "I'm only putting up with you because Scarlet is, and that's only because she's Guildmaster."

Robin follows Scarlet, trying n ot to notice the mark under her eye....

"I'm not sure of these other louts, but just let me have a go at training and you'll see how well I can keep up!" Cletus shifted his weight a little to emphasize the woodcutter's axe on his back.

[Shadowmaster]

"I'll be sure to keep up." Lyon says.

[Haylie]

"Training's not 'till tomorrow, so too bad for you that you'll have to wait a day," Crimson bellowed in reply.

Both parties eventually come to a door on opposite sides of the Guild, and both Payne's open their doors; Crimson into a room with very little color, with black-framed and blue-covered bunk beds lining the walls and several in the center, but fairly clean for a boy's dorm. There's a fireplace on a far wall to the left, but due to the season, it's not burning; several lamps hang from bed posts and the ceiling. The walls are wooden with hooks for coats and several coat racks, as well as a bathroom down a short hallway near the back. Many of the boys look around with exaggerated interest, mostly in trying to decide where to sleep. Most of the more high-class boys groan slightly, but stop at a glare from Crimson. "I don't want any of you lot complaining. I had to sleep on the cold ground for three weeks during one Quest. This is royal treatment compared to that."

The girls are greeted to a rather welcome sight: The beds are bunked, much like the boys', but have red covers on gilded frames. A similar fireplace adorns the same wall as the boys', but is a little cleaner, with fresh wood, but still isn't lit. The walls have a few places to hang pictures, and the lamps hung from beds and the ceiling are a bit cleaner as well, and burning merrily. The walls are covered with wallpaper that has a red flowery design. As far as placement goes, everything is the same as the boys' dorm, except much more inviting. Many of the girls gasp and look around, taking everything in. Several of the more well-off ladies shrug and begin debating on who sleeps where. Scarlet stands in a corner across from the door, allowing the girls to mingle.

Lyon makes his way to a bed that is not taken and sits on it. Not too bad. It'll do.

Crimson speaks so the whole of the room can hear him, and several rooms beyond as well. "All settled? Right. The rules are as follows:

1. "No attacking other Heroes. The reason you're here is to replace the ones we've lost as quickly as possible, and the more of you left the better.

2. "Absolutely NO males are allowed in the ladies' dormatories. I imagine that's fairly obvious.

3. "You are to treat all the veteran Heroes here with respect." The emphasis he puts on 'respect' is tangible. "They could easily tear every last one of you apart, and it's a safe bet the majority of them will." Despite these words, the only Heroes that seem to be there are the Guildmaster and her husband, and the Guildmaster's in another room.

4. "NO MAGIC INDOORS. We're using enough money on buying bloody weapons and armor for you lot without having unnecessary refineries done to the Guild.

5. "You may purchase items at any time from the Guild Shop, but you may not just jump in and take whatever you like. You earn money by assisting the Guild in a positive manner. Just be sure the bloody lout doesn't rip you off.

"Have I made myself perfectly clear?" Crimson folds his arms again and looks around the room, daring any of them to object.

In the ladie's dorm, Scarlet recites a similar list of rules, but with less gusto and more pauses and increased use of the word "please".

"Does everybody understand?"

Robin shyly nods at Scarlet, she looks...Frightened of her...

"I would say that the rules are quitwe clear." Lyon says.

[Haylie]

The other girls acknowledge the rules in their own way: Some with polite nods and smiles, some with nods and bored expressions, and some with the occasional uttered "yes".

"Right, then. Get settled in, basic training starts tomorrow. The Guild Tavern is just down the stairs through the map room, turn right, and straight ahead."

The girls begin unpacking things like homemade weapons of all sorts and sizes. Scarlet, noting Robin's worry, approaches, her features still hidden under her hood. She tries to look as gentle as possible.

"What's the matter, dear?"

"Good. Unpack and settle in. Training first thing in the morning. Tavern's downstairs if you get hungry, but it's not free."

Crimson leaves the men's dorm to climb another set of stairs just outside, up no another chamber.

Meanwhile, a young brunette female priest in training, named Aloena Vertana, was sent by her Priest trainer Vera Pancaeas to continue her training at the Heroes Guild. She accepted her mission, and got her spell book. Priestess Vera then scribed two low-level spells in her student's book, Heal Life, and Physical Shield. "You will learn to scribe spells you learn while on your adventures." The older Priestess said, handing her student some scribing tools and some coins. "This may not be much, but you will gain more on your adventures. Good luck and be safe."

Aloena accepted her provisions, hugged her teacher, and then headed off to the Heroes Guild. She lost her parents long ago. The older priestess Vera was her guardian until she reached the age to choose her own path. With spell book in hand, a one handed mace and a basic arcane wand, and her scribing spell ability learned at her time with the Priest Academy, she journeyed along until she came to the heroes guild. Asking around for directions, she found the girl's dorm, to discover Robin, the archeress, and one of the Guildmistresses there. "I am sorry I am late. Here is a letter from my Priest Trainer Vera Pancaeas. I am Aloena Vertana, your priest in training."

"Nothing ma'am! Um, where is my room?" The girl looks REALLY nervous.
