I went to my image folder, opened the 'to be captioned' folder, opened word pad, then started staring at the small collection of images I have. "Oh, I remember I wanted to do something with that one~" I think aloud as I open it up to take a closer look to remember what I first thought when I saw the image. I gave it a good thorough think through, 'something compelling for sure!' and 'with a spice of love to complicate this~'

Then I stopped, realizing I formed another long drawn out bland story around this image of some random anime girl in a bissare scene that beggs to be elaborated on.

That's when I wondered 'why?' Why bother? Am I writing these for myself? Hardly. Am I writing them for anyone else? Not in particular... Am I doing it for the site? I use to think I was. Does it help me create in other endeavors? No... Do I enjoy writing captions still? hmm... Ask me again when this discussion dies down.

I dunno. I'm not looking for a reason to keep at my story telling (either way i'll still probly toss a caption into the pool every now and then), I'm just looking for someone to say something vaugely refreshing if that's possible.

Anyway, enough of my indecision, why do you caption? (if you the reader actually are a captioneer; otherwise, don't try answering this XD)

Its one way to be creative and express yourself that isn't a ton of work and can be done relatively quickly once you're proficient at it.

I take delicate time with anything I do from a creative standpoint, so, that doesn't work for me nomatter how skilled I get at something. And I express myself in nearly everything I do, from my work at Taco Bell, to the meaningless notes I write for myself.

Short stories are often easier for my little brain with my lazy-ass muse to create, so captions are good for that. Though it still takes me forever to come up with anything. XD;

Though it originally started because I wanted to bring in more FtM content. There is veryveryvery little anywhere. But now it's grown into wanting to bring in different ideas of all kinds, and adding new twists to old TFs. It's fantasy magic, we should explore it and have more fun. :D

Why do I caption? To share, of course. And exactly what I share depends on a lot of factors. For instance, you said that you had a small collection of images put aside for captions, whereas I, someone who is very indecisive, has well over two-thousand images now. The choice alone is usually a challenge for me to make.

I would like to say that it's a creative outlet for me, but I'd rather not. I'd rather be writing epic stories, or drawing pictures. But if it isn't my attention span that's too short, it's my drive; I have too many things working against me that prevents me from being consistent for any reasonable length of time.

Why do I caption? Because I can (sometimes). Perhaps because I want to add more ideas around here to help prevent things from going stale? Perhaps to inspire others to write the stories that I can rarely manage myself? Or, maybe, because I want to take over the world? ;p

The one thing that I do know, is that an image on the old MSF site inspired me to make a caption out of it, and that's how I was able to proceed to the messageboard. So, I figure that I have no real reason to stop captioning, if that's what had given birth to me at MSF in the first place.

I know I've had my good and bad captions with their good and bad stories attached, but even the bad ones can open up a new world for someone. Just an image can do that. I rode a story to find the MSF site and then I had been inspired by an image (specifically there for captioning, on the site) to come to the messageboard and show the caption that I made from it.

In essence, even a caption can change your or another's world. Dun-dun-dunnnn!

Here's what I made for my first caption. :O

I do them to try and chalenge my self. I know I suck at captions, and anything I make I'm so critical about. I really am my worst critic.

I know my spelling sucks, and alot of my captions are realy hit and miss. But when I hit something I get alot of pride. That my resone for doing them any way.

So I have something to do. I can't do Algebra homework I'm supposed to be doing all the time, can I?
That, and I value art, stories, and opinions. No matter how critical. And I've come across some critical opinions, let me tell you.

I caption to help my brain thing of ideas I can use for later. If the caption is bad, then I just take it as cleaning out my brain so I can make better captions.

Hope that makes sence. =^-^=
