Magical DoReMe

Yes, the wonderful 4Kids (saying this with sarcasm) are bringing back one of the shows called Magical DoReMe to the CW4Kids Saturday morning lineup. They finished up the Dinosaur King Season 2 finale, with the main protagonists defeating the Spectral Pirates (aliens who time travel and use Dinosaurs to fight/intimidate).

The ficticious town of Port Mystic has its own witch, named Petina, who owns the Dusty Broom Magic Shop. Dorie Goodwyn (the main protagonist) is obsessed about witches and doing magic, so she goes to this Rusty Broom Magic Shop to check out the owner, and buy a good luck charm. After finding out Petina is a real witch (she has a cat, and wears a witch's robe and hat), Petina is turned into a green blob. Now Petina must train Dorie and her friends Reanne Griffith, and Merabelle Haywood to be witchlings, witches in training. The girls must work in the shop after school, making charms, and selling them to earn money to buy spell drops, which they use to cast spells. They get level 1 fairies, DoDo (Dorie) ReRe (Reanne), and MeMe (Merabelle), which grow as they pass their witchling tests, and Lorilei, Petina's fairy, was the white cat in disguise. Dorie, Reanne, and Merabelle also get Wanderlers, meet with some of Petina's witch friends in the Lunaverse, like Rona and Drona, the witch Proctors, and take special tests designed to help train up new witchlings. There is also a witch who makes appearances at the DoReMe Magic Shop (the former Dusty Broom) named Conya, who sells spell drops and a cash register, among other items to Petina to help run her new store, thus racking up a lot of debt in the process. She even comes to remind Petina and collect on debts, and even plays Poker with Petina to cancel her outstanding debts. That is when petina loses the shop to her rival, and the girls diguise themselves as boys to sneak into their own shop to find out what Petina's rival has done to her shop.

Gwah, I just can't help but wonder why 4kids likes to Americanize so much. They aren't bad when it comes to their own shows -- such as TMNT 2003, -- but when it comes to foreign shows, they just go hog wild in changing.

I haven't seen much of Ojamajo Doremi, but I know I like it, and I think it's utterly silly that they changed the names of the characters to make DoReMi possible instead of just calling the main character Doremi.

Yeah, they took Tokyo mew mew, and americanized it to Mew Mew Power.

They also had an anime style wrestling cartoon, called Ultimate Muscle: The Kinnikuman Legacy, starring the son of the legendary King Muscle. (Kinnikuman means Muscle man) and his friends, who battle the evil DmP (a parody of the NwO).

Yeah, I remember how I used to watch their shows on Saturday mornings. Kirby, Ultimate Muscle, Fighting Foodons, etc.

I liked Ultimate Muscle, but I honestly wish I could find more translated chapters of the manga online. Hopefully the translation group will get to that after they finish up translating Kinnikuman (The series that was created before Kinnikuman Nisei/Ultimate Muscle and starring Mantaro Kinniku's/Kid Muscle's father.)

I saw some Ulitmate Muscle cartoons on Youtube, featuring the Rice and Cow song Mantaro Kinniku/Kid Muscle sings. I did also see the older Kinnikuman cartoons, featuring King Muscle and the older generation (Terryman, Terry Kenyon's dad).

I remember they also had Winx Club, which had 3 seasons already played. The 1st season introduces a red haired teenager named Bloom, who is the lost fairy princess of Sparx, and her adventures with her new fairy friends at Alfea, a magical all-girls school for fairies. She has the powers of fire, and the other girls have powers of music (Musa), Technology (Tecna), Sun and moon (Stella), and plants (Flora). They battled three witches, Icy, Darcy, and Stormy, and they also had a specialist school for young men who wanted to learn heroics and bravery, called Red Fountain. The Witches school was called Cloud Tower.

2nd season of winx club added a new villain, Lord Darkar, a new teacher at Alfea, Professor Avalon, and a new fairy, Layla, who was trying to save the Pixies from Lord Darkar. The Pixies bonded with their fairy friends, and they had to stop Darkar and the witches Icy, Darcy, and Stormy from getting the Codex, a 4 part key puzzle to unlock a new realm, Realix. The girls gained a new power, Charmix, and learned Convergence in their 2nd year at Alfea. The girls get to meet the Princess of Downland, who helps protect the codex part from the witches.

3rd year (Junior year), An evil wizard named Baltor escaped from the Omega Prison dimension, and teamed up with the 3 witches (Icy, Darcy, Stormy) who were imprisoned there after they failed under Lord Darkar. Baltor causes havok in the realm of Magix, where the 3 magic schools in the show are located. A new specialist, named Nebu, joins Red fountain, who becomes a love interest of Layla, and Helia, who likes Flora, introduced in the 2nd season, is the grandson of the headmaster of Red Fountain, a kind wizard named Saladin. The headmistresses of Alfea and Cloud Tower, respectively, are Feragonda for Alfea, and Griselda for Cloud Tower. They girls get their new Enchantix powers when they save someone from their own realms. Stella saves her father, King Radius, from the evil spell Baltor placed on him through Countess Cassandra, who was planning to take over Solaria, Stella's home dimension. Musa saves her friend Galataea from the witches and the Alfea library. Flora saves her little sister on Livetha, her home dimension. Bloom searches for her lost birth parents, King Orithel and Queen Miriam.
