Celebrity Deaths in 2009

Postby Kris_Roth » Fri Jun 26, 2009 12:36 am

Well, folks, Three celebrities just died this year (I'm sure you know more):

Ed McMahnon - Johnny Carson's sidekick and spokesman for Publishers Clearing house, 86.

Farrah Fawcett - The Original Charlie's Angel (the blonde one whom Drew Barrymore portrayed in the remake), cancer, age 62.

and finally, Michael Jackson of the Jackson Five and Neverland Ranch fame, age 50. My friend made a joke about little boys collectively breathing a sigh of relief upon hearing Michael Jackson dying.

some female jazz singer named Koko died too.

I never saw much of the first two. As for Michael... Despite being a cynical and skeptical person, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt regarding child molestation.

As an overly cynical person, I feel obligated to ask who cares? Plenty of good people die every day, and I'll leave it to their friends and family to grieve their deaths. As far as I'm concerned, there are much better places to focus our attention, such as the events unraveling in Iran. Surely a country which may be on the verge of a revolution is more worthy of our attentions than two of the hundreds of people who died in America and just happened to also be entertainers.

So sue anyone who gives a moment or two of their time for a post.

There's nothing wrong with commenting about it. I can't say that for anyone else out there, who may prioritize his death for a long time; but here, at least... ;/

I could just as well say the same about Iran, though. Who cares? Seems to depend on personal interests. Oh, us cynics.

Well, add pitchman Billy Mays to the dead celebrity list. I remember one of his products being OxyClean...

I never had a reason to care for the guy, but it's kind of a shame, since Pitchmen had just started. He was also fifty.

Unless there's some bias, a name was forgotten.

It's a shame to see these guys go. This might seem a tad grim, but anyone got any prediction for who is next?

Ex NFL Quarterback (Tennessee Titans) Steve McNair was recently found dead with a 20 year old woman in his home....

Man...I tell you, that's tragic right there. Although...from what I've heard, that 20 year old was his girlfriend...so he was cheating on his wife and such. Makes you wonder who killed him. Meh, this last one got a little too close to home.
