That British actress who played Ms. Sloacum from "Are you Being Served?" died.

Are you being Served takes place in a British department store, run by the uptight and stuffy floor Manager, Captain Peacock. There was Ms. Sloacum, the saucy senior Ladies associate, who was prattling on about her "pussy" (her cat), and there were two men's department attendants and a junior misses associate working there. Are you being served takes it's title from the opened-ended question Captain Peacock asks each customer, male or female, before asking his staff members if they were free and then assign them to the customer for fitting for pants, or whatever they needed.

Walter Cronkite just died; he was 92... He was famous for his special report on JFK's assassination on Nov. 22, 1963.

Sorry for being ignorant, but who IS Billy Mays? Was he in advertising? (I'm going by the image I saw earlier in this thread)

He was a guy who starred in infomercials for a bunch of items. You can probably find his commercials on Youtube.

I don't know if anyone here is a Michigan resident, or is interested in the athletics thereof, but George Kell and Chuck Daly have both passed away earlier in the year. The former was an ex-baseball player and TV play-by-play man for the Detroit Tigers, and the latter is the only coach to ever last more than 2-3 years with the NBA's Detroit Pistons.

Add Patrick Swayze to the list. The star of such movies as "Ghost" and "Dirty Dancing" has passed away from cancer at age 57.

I saw that Mary from the 1970's group "Peter, Paul, and Mary," died. They sang "Puff the Magic Dragon, among other things..."

If you are into Professional wrestling, former World Wrestling Entertainment superstar from the 1980's Captain Lou Albano, has died, at the age of 76. Also, Killer Kowalski died as well.

Yes, Captain Lou Albano was Mario in the Super Mario live action segments for the cartoon, and voiced Mario in the cartoon version. He starred in Cyndi Lauper's "Girl's Just Want to have Fun" video.

Anyway, Soupy Sales, 83 passed away too. Soupy Sales had his own variety show, the Soupy Sales show, where he got pies thrown in his face.

And threw pies at others, if I recall the news article. Anyway, thanks for reporting that, Kris. I'd meant to make a note of it this morning, but I forgot about it.
