I just realized something

I have access to all but an Xbox 360 and a PS3, now. My sister has recently managed to get a PSP, a DS and an Xbox (the latter two as gifts). There doesn't seem to be anything interesting on the Xbox, especially as far as RPGs are concerned. How about the PSP and the DS? Anything that I can look forward to there?

^^ I got my own DS fairly recently-ish, so of this list I haven't played a lotlotlot yet, but there's some Final Fantasy for it I believe (Tactics A2, FFIII, FFIV at least), The World Ends With You, which I hear is good, a port of the first Disgaea game, (and soon the second) with added features and the like--and a few other things published by the same company I believe.~~And then if you like, since the DS can also play GBA games, there's a few classic RPGs--Golden Sun and such~~

Sounds promising. Aside from the remakes, one of my goals is to collect all of the games from Nippon Ichi. Whenever I can actually afford it, of course (since I recently ordered a new computer and all). I think there's a Crystal Chronicles game that I'm interested in, for the DS, too. It might improve the experience for the sequel planned on the Wii.

Warning: DS version of Disgaea not recommended. Rather than the normal battle map, it just has a grid so that you can move your characters with the stylus. I'd definitely recommend the PSP version instead. However, a good RPG for the DS is the new Suikoden Tierkreis. For the PSP, I recommend Suikoden 1 which can be found in the PlayStation store under PS1 games for only 6.99. (Or maybe 5.99. Either way, it's cheap) Crisis Core and Final Fantasy Tactics are both supposed to be good, but I have not played much of either. Back for the DS, there is Chrono Trigger, Rune Factory (A Harvest Moon type game with some fun combat too) and the Advance Wars games. (Turn-based Tactical army games) That's just what I have when glancing over at my shelf. I can find more stuff if you'd like. ^_^

That has to be the goofiest reasoning not to get a game ever, I have to say.
At least compare the fact that the DS version was slightly worse graphics and sound than the PSP version and less voice acting.
But if you don't care about such trivialities (like me), then there's nothing wrong with it. Oh, and it has more unlockables than the PSP version, and they also fixed numerous glitches from the PSP version.
Back to the topic, I'm going to have to chime into saying that in 2010, Golden Sun for the DS should be a great RPG once it comes out. Seriously.

Everyone I've talked to agrees that it's retarded. The PSP version is a simple port with added content, including Etna mode and everything. The DS version redoes combat presentation in order to use the stylus and make it gimmicky. I think it's silly to get the DS version when you have the far better PSP version equally available to you.

Well, if you have a PSP, yes.
But from what I've seen the 'changes in combat presentation' is really just cosmetic. But we should probably continue this discussion elsewhere.
Also, another RPG to look into may be the Valkyrie Profile games for the DS, PS2, and I think there's one for PSP too.

I heartily recommend you go out and buy The World Ends With You for the DS. The dual-screen battle system unique and interesting (even if I could never get the hang of playing both screens at once), the background music is incredibly catchy and will likely haunt you until the day you die, the script is generally amazing and highly effecitve, wether it's trying to be serious or comedic... Gyah, I'm not good at this review stuff, just take my word for it, okay? This game is amazing.

I actually haven't touched my PSP since 2006 so.... I can't really tell you any good games for it.
