[Reform] Forum Consolidation

I'm planning on consolidating the forums down and merging them. We can also leverage forum nesting if we want, as well.

Here's what I'm thinking (names subject to change):

General
- Rules
- News
- Comments
- Welcome Mat
- Affiliated Groups

Discussions
- MSF Chat + Tea Room
-- Soap Box
- Across the Water

Fun & Games
- Events + Muffin Room + Games Room (N.B. Games could be subforum instead.)
- Entertainment + Pen and Paper RPG
- Anime

Creative Corner
- Stories
- Art
- Captions

RP Rooms
- Normal RPG
- FFRPG + Duel Room + Battle Room
- Characters
- Universes
-- (universes here)

Archives
- Normal
- RP
- Art

Comments and suggestions appreciated. Forums not listed would be removed entirely rather than merged.

throwing out the concept of globals here, basically the same as what Eirien has only:

News
Rules
Events

^ would be global, seen everywhere.

Also, games definitely a subforum of muffin

Anime should be Video Games. Possibly, Video Games and Anime/Manga as separate forums under Entertainment.

I'd argue Muffin+Duel+battle+Events should be a single room since they most often are treated as such

As you may have noticed, I've gone ahead and moved around the forums. I have not yet deleted or merged old forums, pending what people think about the changes.

It's a bit odd, but it's just a case of getting used to it.

Couldn't comments and help desk be combined together. They sort of fit together.

Oh, yeah... I think it'd be weird if only General discussion and Across the Water were left showing in the Discussions area. At least leave the Tea room where it is now, and it might make more sense to move the Soap box there, since that's the place that spawned it.

Perhaps move the MSF battle room into Events?

And make Video games a main forum again? (Just two doesn't look like it's enough to warrant their own section, because you might as well take the two left and toss them in Discussions since they generally apply.)

Those are pretty much the opinions I've come to after trying things out for the last few days.

Well, Muffin Room could move out of Fun & Games and into Discussions (a-la SA, which has FYAD and BYOB, its Muffin Room, in the same grouping as GBS, its general discussion forum).

Also, I think adding an Anime room might benefit. Then there'd be three forums under Entertainment... But by moving the Muffin Room, we'd have only one forum under Fun & Games...

In any case, I'm not sure what would differentiate General Discussion as envisioned, and the Tea Room as it is, other than GD having serious posts and TG posts at the same time... Likewise, I'm not sure what else could go in Fun & Games other than the Entertainment forums. Perhaps merge Discussions with Fun & Games entirely:

Hmmmm... Could work, could work... Although, perhaps for the Entertainment lounge it could lead to subforums since it kind of seems odd to me that there's one entertainment media above the rest. Or make the Entertainment lounge a section to replace Fun & games. Well, whatever works. I can't say that I'm in expert in what's more aesthetically practical. But it gives me an excuse to take my mind off of the upcoming Christmas activities here... Which, evidently, has failed. *Sighs*

I'm not sold on this configuration.

The Games Room, I think, should have it own heading. And Events could be a sub-forum inside Muffin Room, but I don't like the idea of outright combining the two.

I also think we should leave the Tea Room where it is, just re-appropriating it a bit. "A place for serious discussions, and a place to come with your troubles if you want to talk about them." We need somewhere to talk about our problems among friends and I disagree with keepng negativity entirely off the boards.

I've always thought that the Tea Room was kinda redundant to begin with. The purpose of it was for "safe" posting as it were, out of character chat if you will. A place where you didn't have to worry about characters and what not. However, you didn't have to worry about it to begin with (at least character actions) because the muffin room was created to be the out valve for gen disc to begin with. Making Tea always seemed to me to be something that put a major damper on the conversations in gen disc
